Absolutely right. Sometimes heavier is good - like guns or boards in unruly conditions.

Thinner also has a limit - rails need to be a certain size (but it's smaller than most production kneeboards around these days).

red, i'm giving my boards low profile/blade like rails finishing to a chine line on the bottom nose to tail working real well
oh and tiki probably too many knots 8)
once you've had black you'll never go back!!!

i like what red said about less fins. i like the caterpillar drive cutouts through the board. the rail, tail fin set up is key, i invite you to view my site and blog

the handle needs to go front to back, not across... much better for weight transfers and it'll loosen up more on cutbacks that way. I've also worked on a single attach point in the center with a knot tied on the loose end. That's knot as as effective for rail to rail moves in the barrel, but I don't lose the board as much on my vertical 360's.
