Anyone had any luck or tried out any of the foam boards on the market now? Don't know if I would want to try it in any size, but looks like it could be fun to mess around with.

I am considering getting one to try out kneeboard surfing. There are variety of shapes out there, here are a few I am considering and my thoughts:

Catch Surf Stump Quad 5'0

Widest in the Catch Surf options at 21.5,

Not quite as wide as the Stump 21" vs 21.5" but offers up more volume at 42L.

Catch Surf Beater 54 Twin

Lowest volume, virtually no rocker, 20" wide, 30L

Here are two that I am really considering, I am a little concerned with their length though, but I like their price better for sure.

Can't tell the full dimensions online, but it must be close to 22" wide. I held it up next to a Catch Surf Beater and it was a good bit wider in the middle.

Similar to the one above but the nose isn't as wide and the tail tapers to a more bat shape.

Anyone have any opinions on how a wide nose and tapered tail might do knelo?
Do I need nose rocker? Outer banks beach break, waist to chest high.
Do I want the widest point of the board to be where my knees would sit? If the nose was wider what effect would this have?
How low on volume could one go? I bodyboard a lot so I am used to paddling lower vol boards. I'm 6' & 190lbs.

Thanks dude! Definitely looks like fun and I was actually looking at that exact board in the shop. Think I'm going to pick one up for the east coast summer slop. I think it will be a good transition to get my knees wet before having to drop 600-800 on a custom.

Anybody had any experience to share on these? Looked at a Torpedo last night, TONS of volume and super wide. Seems like it could do the trick in our crap east coast powerless under chest high days even if it's not going to carve like a fully railed board.

Did you go for it, if so how did it turn out? I've thought about getting one for a long time for shorbreak sessions or as a travel board (no board fees if short enough and won't get dinged in handling). So tell us...
