Hi fellow kneelos,

If any of you happen to be out at Torrey Pines and see a chick with a red kneeboard and wearing a helmet, paddle up and say hi (if you're not too embarassed to being seen talking to a weirdo wearing a helmet, that is).

I had a head injury, that's why I have to wear the dorky helmet. Getting back into the groove of things now. Wish I could say I rattled my brains during a gnarly ride but the truth of the matter is that I ran up a hill and right into a low-hanging wooden beam. Nice, huh?

Hope to see you in the water!

Torrey Pines is an awesome break when its on from what I gather. Enjoy your time on the knee machine, and I hope you find some people to network with on here! I'm in the South Bay, so its a no go from me, but I'm stoked for anyone who overcomes an injury (a head injury, especially) and gets back out there. Good luck, and enjoy being part of an exclusive club!

Good vibes,

Hey jules
my dad and I surf at torrey pines
I go there a bit more often because its the closest break for me
do u go out north torrey pines or south torrey pines?
I mostly go North torrey (under the bridge tower 7)
but Pm me when you go and we ( i have some other kneelo buds that normally go with me ) can all go take over a peak from some kooky longboarders haha

Hey Jules don't worry about it. I think I take the geek award for having to surf with my prescription SCUBA mask on in Indo after my goggles broke  I may wear a helmet in the winter here on the East Side since I am often all alone.

Thanks for the replies!!

Hi Shaun,

Yeah, I usually will paddle out at Tower 7. However, I DO paddle out with a longboarder, but I love him, he's not a kook. We'll make fun of everyone else!

I hope to see you there. I'll pm you before I go sometime soon.

Thanks!

Thanks man!

hey Jules...i was searching the forums and ran across your post. Don't worry about the helmet, I wear one sometimes at Big Rock and some of the points in Baja. I hope that your situation has improved and that you are getting wet...Hope you have a great holiday season....see you in the water...geno

Jules,

The brain bucket is so you don't re injure yourself :P there is another guy at Torrey ( south end )who wears a shiny silver one, can't miss him. Keep wearing it so you can continue surfing, it's a bummer to see classic waves and not be able to go out

I surf Torrey on weekends usually just south of the bridge/rivermouth, see you there sometime :!:

Hey gang,

Thanks for all the support on the brain bucket. Now another thing has happend and it's going to keep me dry docked until spring. Hubs accidentally clocked my nose while flailing in his sleep (wrong place, wrong time), so I had reconstructive surgery and now no surfing until it heals up but good. Damn. What luck.

Go out and get some rides for me would ya? I'll be living vicariously through you!

Jules;

Maybe you should wear that helmet to bed, and get a face shield, like L T's  See you in the spring :!:

Jules - Stay healthy....there will always be waves.

My wife & I have been surfing together since 1976 and we go through spells where we don't surf that much but when we do - its still a lot of FUN!

Merry Christmas and much hope for a safe and sane (but not too sane!) New Year.

Best,

Dan & Patty Young
