So.....I get this email from Coldsalt

Post by gogglefog »

About five years ago or so, I was hiking to a surf spot in Alaska and got lost. It was one of the coldest days of the year and one of the shortest too. Had to ditch the board to make better time through the dense forest. I thought I had a good idea of where I ditched it. I looked for it numerous times from a helicopter and never did find it.

Shortly before the new year I get this email from my friend Kevin in Alaska saying he found my board.

And better yet, he was going to be in Chile the same time I was and he'd bring the board.

So, I get to Chile and my board is there. Kevin had to leave early.

The board is still seaworthy (Blast Hawaii quality) but I haven't ridden it yet. The bottom is pretty stained from sun exposure and leaves laying on it. Some mice ate most of the deck pad away so Kevin stripped what was left off and put a new pad on.

I think I'll probably ride it once and then hang it on my wall.

Fog, I think you should order a new one and have Bud install a GPS device.

Classic, and a great testament to Bud's hi-quality manufacturing.

I have the Surfers Journal issue that featured Coldsalt's firearm.

Ken, good idea about the GPS. Actually, after that day I wouldn't go ten feet into the woods in Alaska without a handheld GPS. Could've avoided the whole thing. Luckily I lived and learned.

Randiego, I think that's Coldsalt's .480. I've shot it and it kind of hurts the wrist. Good times though, camping and shooting. I don't think they included the storyh of the time that Coldsalt threw a propane cannister in the fire in that article - I'm amazed we're still alive.

Peaches, I went to Pichilemu. Got one all time day and three other days worth mentioning. Worst trip to Chile I've been for surf. Did get to catch up with lots of friends though.

There is a pic of the board in my myspace ad for anyone who is interested: www.myspace.com/ioncewasamanfromnantucket.

I would post it here but I don't have the software to reduce the size of the pic.
