That is a great story. Thank you phil!

Can someone insert the pic of THAT drop into this post to go with the words?

Best story in a long time Phil, a great insight into what preparation is necessary to even think about tackling waves of that magnitude. Didn't Rich Pavel ever paddle out at Waimea on a kneeboard? Was he riding something similiar?

Thoroughly enjoyed that post, well done Phil and as Kev said you can keep that big stuff as I don't have what it takes to take it on which, for me made the read that much more enjoyable. And yeah great entry onto a great site welcome to KSUSA.

Cheers Wolruss

Phil I have to say, when I saw that photo I thought you must be f@%$$%g crazy. iwas wrong. You and a few others seem to have put alot of thought and effort into your endeavor. (crazy like a fox) Just goes to show when you believe in what you are trying to do,anything is possible.
On the other hand I like to ride big wedge and other spots, but there is no way in hell I want anything to do with Mavs.
Phil,maybe you are crazy 8)

That had to be the all time 1st post ever. Thank you for the adventure, and as was posted earlier, the crew that developed the Darth Vader can't be matched.

can someone point me in the direction of that photo

one thing that has stuck with me about the story,
apart fro the wow of it all
is the community project of Darth Vader

as rooster said " ... the crew that developed the Darth Vader can't be matched. "
... come and pick up your present

not only did these guys have the confidence that Phil could do it, they backed it up with substance and without being asked.

I can't explain it but that just does it for me.
I love surfing and a big part of it is watching others do ... surf stuff ... and get it right.
all part of the stoke ??

could not take my eyes off the story. Clearly history being made. Your honesty and humility make the story more real and personal.

As everyone else has said, awesome first post and welcome aboard :)

As someone who gets uncomfortable when the surf gets over 6ft, I'm in total awe!
