Books from Phil Curtiss

Post by pcledges »

Hello Everyone,

Congratulations to those of you who competed in the recent contest at Huntington Beach. Sounds like a good time was had by all. I just wanted to let you know that I've written a couple of books. Palangi in Paradise is about my experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tonga. The Seasons of California is about growing up among the coasts and mountains of the West Coast of the U.S. Both contain short stories, a few of which you may already have read. While neither is completely about surfing, the ocean and riding waves are a major part of each. If you're interested in getting a copy of one or both of them, just google www.lulu.com, then go to ShopBooks--Lulu, then search by title or by using my name (just Phil Curtiss).
I'm definitely stoked to be back home. One thing I learned from my experience in Africa is that I can't be away from the ocean for long. Here's hoping we'll get the chance to surf together sometime soon. All the best.

Phil

Hi Phil
I just ordered both of the books and look forward to reading them.
Jon Manss had mentioned that you had ventured into the writing field and I know he enjoyed your work! Hope you are well and I'm looking forward to reading about some of your experiences :)

I just ordered my copy, Phil! How do I get it signed!?
I'm not influenced by the past; I change it!

Phil has done a wonderful job of giving us a view of his life our California seasons and a healthy out look to us grey beards. Such an enjoyable read and a must for all kneeboard fans. Thanks Phil

Sounds about right for someone who has kneeboarded Mavericks :)
I hope someone gets back out there and rides a kneeboard at Mav's again. With Dorian and crew making barrels standing up, think of the possibilities on a kneeboard! (Just be ready to hold your breath for a really, really, really long time if you don't make it out of the tube.)
dropkneeing is a sin...isn't it?
