Black and blue ribs

With the averge age of the kneeboarder these days this area should be used to post issues on health matters (surfer's ear, knee surgery, stretches, etc).

Black and blue ribs

Post by Jacksquid »

Maybe I am a mutant, but one of my lower ribs takes a beating and turns all sorts of ugly colors. I've tried a rib pad with a hole cut in it, and it works, but it never stays where I want it. Any simple solutions, or should I just waveski?

Ribs

Your bumming, Once you break ribs, there never the same. I broke several a few years kneeriding and theres bits & pieces all around in there. Try getting a nice soft deck patch on your board, it helps.

Good ideas..., I think I'll...

...glue a nice squishy pad on my board in just the right spot. If that doesn't work I'll glue one to me. If that doesn't work, then I'm having ribs for dinner. Mine. Got any BBQ sauce?

You might find that you can stick on a gel pad - on you, not the board, similar to what they use in bike seats and such, that'll do the job for you.

http://www.anatechinc.com/geleroll.html might be worth a try.

The Aussie solution

Post by Jacksquid »

:D Once upon a time I had a chat with an Aussie about the hole in the ozone and great whites in the surf zone. His response was, "No worries, mate. I'm sure that a little baling wire and duct tape can fix that nasty hole, and as for the sharkies, they do a nice job of thinning out the lineup."

With that spirit in mind I used duct tape and cell foam for my ribs, a pint of bitter for courage, and I have had no troubles since. Dr. Strange was on the money.
