Boating Safety -- Feral Boating

With the averge age of the kneeboarder these days this area should be used to post issues on health matters (surfer's ear, knee surgery, stretches, etc).

Seriously, besides a ditch bag, a float plan where everyone knows where you will be is important.

Don't forget nudie mags and a ziplock bag so they don't get wet. That way if you survive the capsising you won't be alone.
And way more beer than you think you'll need, running out early might lead to life and death even when the boat is in no danger of sinking.
Besides if your gonna die you might as well be drunk, clutching your nudie mag stash while floating on your coffin bag smacking at the hands of pesky crew members trying to stay afloat hanging off your "floatation device". Seriously though the chicken boats are dodgy. But that is precisly why these types of trips are out of reach for alot of people. "Fortune favours the brave", they say. Sure things can get ugly but imagine the circus that would ensue if these operations were made safe?
Run the gauntlet I say, nothing more satisfying than having a high end boat pull up knowing your gonna be there 3 times longer for 1 /5th of the price. It just comes with risk

Some very good points Ross, the only real danger we had was when one mate who is obviously poor at maths drank his and others bintang quota! things nearly went pear shaped! the nudie mags may have proven dangerous!!
getting there is often as good as getting there

I know it is contraversial in some circles, but if you run out of Bintang we have been known to switch to Anker, warm... followed by a Pocari chaser and red bull

I hate to be a fusspot but there are nautical protocols which must be respected. When at sea, in these parts at least, nudie magazines must be referred to as 'stick books'.

  Anker, its still beer hey.

you know i have to wonder about the intellegence of some of my mates sometimes.
Last year my mate handed over the porn on his ipod to the crew on our boat. Not realising a Javanese boatcrew 2/3 of the way through Ramadan, a high quality porn and a pretty Australian girl on board is a questionable mix.
It took the dummies a little while to catch on to why i was staying on the boat till they finished surfing each day.

Yes shelbreak i will observe this rule, "stick books" has a much more nautical ring to it.

'stick books' - now why don't we get this kind of education at school?! Thanks shelfbreak...
