Mutiny injured.

With the averge age of the kneeboarder these days this area should be used to post issues on health matters (surfer's ear, knee surgery, stretches, etc).

Just saw Tom. He is doing well. It was a relief to see him bobbing his head, and moving around while talking. He is in and out of sleep this morning, but is in good spirits, and joking around as usual.
The doctor did some reconstruction of his spine, and Tom has a permanent plate with screws in his neck to add to the precious metal already in his body. It's really going to be good watching him go through airports now.
They say Tom will surf again.
He is in ICU today, then a couple more days out of ICU, then home if all goes well.
Tom says he feels like he got hit by a bus, but is just glad to be alive.
He said one of the things he thought of in the water was Kenny's experience last year.
I am a traveller of both time and space, a weaver in and out of dreams, I see worlds seldom seen.

Very glad to hear Tom is okay, and the prognosis is good :-)

There's been too much of this lately in this community... Scary :(

Apparently, Tom had a cervical fracture (broken neck) in addition to multiple herniated discs. They used ceramic disc spacers and a bone graft from his hip then stablized the fracture with a bone palte. His prognosis is "good" for a full recovery. Time will tell.

Like MF said his spirit and sense of humor are good. It warmed my soul knowing our friend is going to be OK. He was pretty doped up on narcotics and have to admit I was tempted to tie his beard into a knot.

Thank God he is OK and will make full recovery. We're all getting older... injuries like this can be life altering.

Stoked it's just another bump in the road (Although a BIG bump indeed.) and we'll see him in the water again.

So... is it about time we gave him a new nickname? I mean, Come on! He's indestructible.

What a shocker! Just got home from a great trip to Nica, when the phone rings...and it's Razor with the news of Tommy.
Tonight, we had the chance to see him, and he looks great! He's laughing and joking around.
Mike F and his sister were in the room. It's hopeful he will get moved to general population either late tonight or tomorrow.
He is truly blessed to be alive, thanks to quick response from Ed Dimick and Longboard Larry. Thanks you guys for helping out a great friend.

Tommy, do what the doctor says and you will be back in the line up in no time... just ask Amanda! You guys have matching scars. How cool.
Sending healing thoughts to you and the surf gods.

PS - can't wait to see the hand planes you and MF are shaping and glassing. Sounds fun!
JT and Singe/Amanda
