New Fins=Bad Blisters.

With the averge age of the kneeboarder these days this area should be used to post issues on health matters (surfer's ear, knee surgery, stretches, etc).

New Fins=Bad Blisters.

Post by Big Smokey »

I recently bought a pair of Churchill Classic Fins. I love the drive that these give, but after a good two hour session the tops of my middle three toes on my left foot are mangled with BIG open blisters. This happens session after session and they take about a week to heal. I usually put them on in deeper water, so I do not think that is trapped sand... I suppose that I will tape up my toes from now on, but I wonder why this happens with Churchills and not other brands that I have owned...

I experience the same with almost all fins I wear with bare feet. With booties or fin socks I get no blisters.

I have had the same experience with all fins. I wear socks or fin socks with all fins. End of problem.

toe blisters

Post by DarcyM »

I bought a new pair of duck feet this spring, and they're so much stiffer than my old (15 yr + probably) pair. I got some nasty toe blisters that didn't really heal even though I've been wearing fin socks. I also notice more foot pain, similar to what I had as a kid with new fins. In a couple years or so the rubber will be softer ... I hope!

I love my duck feet but I get them one size bigger and put fin socks or booties on. I also have to duck tape my middle toes, Some time if I surf every day I put cotton balls under the duck tape. It pain full but worth it.I love my duck feet :D

to all the duck feet wearers
Im thinking you are wearing the wrong flippers (fins)
as I am sure I have mentioned in earlier posts ...the most comfortable fin to wear are "propel" or "pod".... I have never had any blisters from either pair and I dont wear sox or booties.....there are web sites for these fins...check them out

I've mentioned these before, Force Fins.
They are open toe and designed to transfer force to your instep, taking the small muscles in your arch and toes out of the kicking equation. I've had BB'rs look at em and complain that the straps look draggy.. what is that to a KB'er who pulls his feet up onto his deck? The thin blades induce less drag than big rib swinfins and the upswept tips hug the deck nicely when riding (they point down rather than up). They allow for a more natural kick cause your foot doesnt have to hyper-extend with the fin blade. I rounded the tips so the leash would slip by easily, virtually eliminating their tendency to capture the leash between fin blade and foot when transitioning from kicking to sitting and waiting.

Nice ad, Beeline. I'm printing it out to add to my Duck Feet Shrine...light the incense.

If only my ankles could take the pressure.

Same here. With my boney toes I've never worn a fin barefoot that didn't wear a hole in my toes. Fin socks are mandatory for me.
