I'm biting my tongue on this one.
Let's just say it was a good day to be a Kneeboarder.

and this is the "go to" man for the US surf media when they want to talk kneeboarding?
take note that the reason he ended up in that position was because his fins gave out in the most crucial part of his bottom turn resulting in a little sideways movement and a complete loss of speed.
it all looked great until that sideslip.
I'd be willing to bet his board is to short and maybe to much tail width.
in waves like this(i'm calling it 6-8') i'd ride a 6'0" to 6'3" rounded pin.
nice waves though.

I don't think the arm dragging for that length of time helped either, and may have had something to do with the board skipping, board wants to travel in one direction, his arm is pulling in another direction Almost looks like he wants out of the wave.Nice wave
Back seat driver...turn here!!...

Hate to burst everyones bubble but that is not Romo. It's Chris Beresford on his fist wave that afternoon. I saw it from the shoulder and if I remember correctly he was slightly under-gunned and just skittering on that bottom turn. When he made it back to the line up we gave him sh!t for not pulling in
And before you go bagging on the guy riding the wave, remember, he was out there charging, where were you
I was in the line up when that video was shot and I did not see Romo out during that time. Have not seen him at Blacks in a few years at least.

He turned way too late and his board lost Drive completly...NOTHING AT ALL to do with too short a board or too wide a tail though( fins too far forward maybe or too much toe in).The guy was charging it though and it's much bigger than 6ft

heh heh - you go Dave!
That was my take when I saw it, that whoever it was, they were under-gunned. Looks like he realized it and tried to punch out the back, only to get ragdolled over the falls. Now we know why Jack took the 5th!
Go Chris!
I know where I was. I was on the east coast on a business trip, pissing and moaning that I was missing the biggest day of the year! Man I hated that job!
I guess I don't have to worry about that now, eh?
