knee skate

Post by skansand »

so fun 14 hours ago......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwrKL6VTc2M

... the video looks slow cause the guy filming is a pro hill skater who board gos like 60 mph and had to foot brake to keep from passing me..but im upwards of 20 mph in some turns....

the board is another pro bombers "sit down special" thats 12" x 48" and had tuned flex with different density wood ribs on the bottom and a neoprene pad....he never thought to double knee it!

this is my first ride :D

8) 8) 8)

My brother had an 8-wheeler back when

Padded up my knees and took it to a pool. I liked riding that board regardless.

With that length, and converting to an 8-wheeler to spread the knees...

That said, that looked fun as all get out just as is! I found myself leaning with you...

flippers would be some good protection...

Kneeboard Stakeboard

Post by frog »

Back in the '70. I build a kneebroad stakeboard with a pad and a carpet on top of 18" x 24" plywd. w/truck mounted on a 2" x 4" block them to attach to board. I use to ride cayon roads, pools and water sted bowls and walls

Looks like fun maybe I should build one again?

I also built a knee skate in the 1970's with 4, Bennet Rpo trucks (8 wheels).
Didn't ride it that much since I skated pools on a normal' board and a slalom board.
kbing since plywood days

I was thinking about a repeat, and quickly drew that same conclusion... or was that contusion.

Maybe slapping down some deck pad would help?

On the 8-wheeler, I used kneepads.

The other tweak might be raised rails to press the lower legs against?

Just pulled this out of the dustbin...

This one had a bodyboard glued to the deck, I still had to wear Pro Pads (the big ones) and garden gloves among all the other protective gear required for skate parks in florida at the time. I used the trucks I linked in an earlier post. I bought the largest wheels I could find and made the board out of 3/4inch plywood. I also used two sets of 3/4inch plywood risers along with the big old school plastic risers. The boards lasted me about 3 months each on average, I kept breaking them. All in all I rode these for just over a year around 1999 or 2000.
Did I have a great time doing it? Absolutely! :D
Why did I stop doing it? In short, I was getting utterly annoyed with the dozens of kids that kept asking me the same questions over and over... 'where did you get those trucks?' 'have you heard about that one guy in brazil that has crippled legs and rides a skateboard too?' 'how did you come up with the idea?' and so on...

what happened to the board? its gone, suffice it to say it was the casualty of a bad breakup with a girlfriend at the time.
