I liked the bonus footage of the spoon and slab. I'd like to see those boards ridden on better waves though.
I had a bunch of stand up surfing friends see it and they were stoked too!!

Dr.Strange - Yeah, The Sons always carried a horn section. In fact, one of the trumpet players was my student for awhile during 1975. I was approached to do some work with them but that was around the time I hung up the horn for 10 years.

Mic Gillette (one of the original Tower of Power trumpeters) currently plays with Bill Champlin and The Sons - that is, when Bill isn't on the road with his other group, Chicago.

Hey Dan,

Again, I'm sorry for the slow response. That would suit the style of my next movie perfectly. I am after some really nice sounding Hawaiin tunes. I'd be stoked if you could chase it up and keep me in touch.

   Cool, someone actually watches credits!!! If you play it backwards it plays secret messages too!

Thank you John for your kind words.

I was having great trouble in deciding whether I should put a lot of Deans footage in as the quality isn't that great. Like all featured surfers on this movie the video doesn't do them justice. They all surf alot better than you've seen.

Re. surfing the spoon and slab in better conditions? Stuff that, I couldn't walk for 2 days after it!!!

We are lucky we have got any footage as Gigs and myself jumped off the pier where the footage was shot, the spoon went under the water and we couldn't find it for 10 minutes!

Spoons are like that.....they love to float just under the water. Thats why its good to make them a bright color. I had the same problem when I rode paipos. Once you lost your board, it took forever to find it again.

Sparrow- The Hawaiian music is by my friend from Kauai. Ken Emerson is a very talented musician and is currently nominated for a Grammy in the Folk/Hawaiian catagory. I'm running a PR campaign for him so I'll see what I can do about getting you some background music. Ken's my old surf partner (even though he's a stand-up type - but he rides a traditional Brewer style, single fin pin tail) and I should be able to find something for you to use.

Thanks Surfhorn
I cant tell you how relieved we were to find it as there was a huge rip running back along the pier & we thought it was going out rather than in :!:
That would be so cool if you could have a word with Ken.
Im stoked to see people helping out so much with getting music or getting extra cameras to film whilst in Hawaii.
This event is going to be huge & I hope the best video to date!
Keep me intouch Surfhorn & thanks again. :D
Im leaving in 11 days for Hawaii, after that Im contactable at Buddy's house till the 1st of March.
