I have no photos of Chris other than the ones etched in my brain
It was his kneeriding ability that helped me make my decision to give
this style of waveriding a try Thanks To Chris for the Passion I have developed for riding waves on my knees His style and abillity were an Inspiration to most all kneelos in the H.B. area.
I have a vivid memory of a contest in Cayucos in 1986
double overhead and bigger and Chris was just back from the north shore
I was paddling over this set wave while Chris did a 360 in the tube
(the judges couldn't see it but the guys on the pier did)
was a solid 15' face top to bottom barrel he then comes flying out of the tube and hits the lip as the wave closes out
I was fortunate enough to surf with him often and he was constantly pushing me to go bigger and challenge myself in all conditions that I paddled out in
Lot's of Good Times with that guy

Chris was a real CLASSIC kneeboarder and an amazing competitor. A true showman - he would do some sick move and then hold his hand (or sometimes his finger) out to the judges as if to say "C'mon?!" I learned a lot going head-to-head with him.
Rumor has it he's been living on the Big Island working the sport fishing gig.
Maybe Edgar ran into or heard about him over there and was trying to confirm the identity?
Strange, I never saw him here during his NS visit.
Lee Pattison and Mike McGuire, don't remember him either.
I always made a point of going out of my way to shoot pictures of any kneeboarders I saw.
Can you guys dig up any good shots?
The more (pictures) the merrier I always say.

I think some kneeriders sneak over and surf and comeback un-noticed. I did in 1992 was there 3 weeks. Surfed everyday. Couple kinda big days some super fun days. Great experience never saw a follow kneerider or water move like that. Lots of respect for those who call it home.

What about Phil Fein. I herd he's shaping his own kneeboards now. He's exercising regularly and planning on coming back onto the circut to kick some A_ _ !
