The history of Dale Ponsford

Post by Mike Fernandez »

Please stick to historical facts about the person, or well founded rumors, but no opinions (EI:I think George Greenough is great because he invented the spoon.) This does no good in attaining the history of the person.

Dale shaped my current board, which even though its probably 10 years old now is still a ripper in decent surf. Anbd he was one of the main guys in the Central Coast Kneeboard Club, when I used to go and check out thier contests (even entered one). When he very first went out on his own I was offered a Kneeon board by Rick Jullienne after a mix up with the Aware Knees I had ordered. It was a sweet looking board, but I wanted an Aware Knees thruster, not a twin fin with a middle trailing fin of small dimensions... :? I may have made the wrong choice, Dale was looking forwards in his shapes, and I was sticking to my same formula.
all the best,

Scotty

Dale shapes and rides "ski-tails" (sometimes called screwdrivers) to great effect. Once when asked by a prominent shaper why they work he responded "You wouldn't understand" and left it at that!

He rips and also catches fish (as opposed to just fishing for them!)

Lived on PI way back.
