Here's an interview I just gave for the local paper's blog.

While I can't get into details, there is much more to this than meets the eyes.
As soon as we're in a position to release info I will. Its like a soap opera.

I think the late Warren Zevon summed it up nicely:"Send lawyers, guns and money".

i really enjoyed checking out the surf museum on the point when i was up there for the contest, too bad it has to be torn down

you think the new museum will be on the point too?

Not sure torn down or moved. The plan I've drafted calls for a two or three story structure to be built directly across from the museum, on the inland side of West Cliff Drive. It would be a Victorian style structure based on the late 1890's Santa Cruz lighthouse that used to stand on that site.

It would house the Santa Cruz Natural History Museum, with a wing dedicated to the Surfing Museum - which would give the Surfing Museum 4-5x's more area. There would be room for rotating exhibits and a small conference hall for presentations. The basement would be a state-of-the-art storage/restoration facility.

Parking is already taken care of with existing parking in the area - and the new bathroom structure that was finished this year is a plus. We would design berms to shield vehicles from sight and also make spaces for a couple school buses.

And the top of the bldg would be the navigation light.

And, as I tease the other surfers here, it would give us an entire wing for a permanent kneeboarding exhibit!

With all the surf museums spread along the coastline, let's keep them honest and make them represent kneeboarding.
