I received this simple text message last night:

John's gone surfing...

RIP, my friend.

I am relieved you are no longer suffering.

I'll be quick to visit you on the lanai, but not quite yet.

Folks, once I find out more about memorial services, I'll share.

I went to bed last night saying a prayer and sent some thoughts to John.

When I woke this morning, the first thing I thought about was John and the time Don Harris, Barry Baker and I surfed Oceanside together.

I was half awake but a vision of John swopped through my head as he bottomed turned off a wave smiling of couse and rode by me hooting.

John, on know your on your way to the peferct place with never ending perfection.

John is in a better place now, and prayers for Jen, loss is a terrible thing, she will need friends and family.

Bob,

Thanks for sharing this difficult journey with us. Some day I'll (we'll) be going through some form of it. Best for me to prepare and think about this. And yes, as Mike offered, prayers now for Jen and family.

So tragic when I think how many friends and family members have battled cancer.

John will be in our thoughts and prayers tonight.

Bob,

Jenny and I send our deepest condolences at the loss of your friend. We've been following this thread, many thanks for sharing with us during this difficult time.

It's been a tough week. My good friend Dan Campbell lost his brother this week to cancer as well. His brother was my age.

Thanks Bob for the updates.

I love that kneeboarding is a small world. Only those who do it, love it, and really understand the stoke other kneelos enjoy. I never met John but am certainly touched by what others have shared. Mark, that image that flashed into your mind of John's bottom turn is priceless.

May the God of all comfort be near to all of John's family and friends at this time.

My first wave tomorrow is going to be for John.
