Word is that Sunday is a gathering. The funeral is Monday.

I'm not sure about the particulars on Sunday. I'll share more as I learn more.

Sorry for the short notice.

Heading South in short order... hope to splash around his final resting place, slightly in advance.

San O Sunday 3PM is a gathering... surf beach vs. bluffs. I haven't been through that gate in a LONG time!

Jack D. at Sunset... smuggled, of course. The gates close shortly thereafter.

Don't have to RSVP, just show up.

Regarding pix... I'm scrambling to find some more. Somewhere are pix of John surfing. Not too many. I think there may be one on this site from a Trestles gathering. Haven't had time to look!

My old pix are buried somewhere. Hope to get in there in the next few.

I think there's a non-digital tape from Puerto Vallarta with John.

Cove, Tom, Mark, heading down. Don's working it through on 50/50 odds at best.

Hope we share a session.

It's going to be a whirlwind for the best of causes and the worst of reasons. I'm really looking forward to sharing times with the clan. Good people. John is the center.

Have to remember to bring Now & Then.

Cheers,
SFK

Late afternoon Sunday with a small swell running and a orange sky, family and friends came to pay homage to John under the old palapa at San Onofre. It was a party like atmosphere as steel drums played in the background as people ate wonderful luau food and shared stories of John.
There was sadness but much more happiness shared over John's great spirt.

During the festivities, Bob Schiff and I put on our wetsuits and paddled our boards out past the line up. With bunches of orchids in our clenched teeth, we punched through the white water and stroked toward the horizion. Once outside the line-up, we sat on our boards for a few moments and gave John our best thoughts. We then raised the flowers and threw them to the will of the wind and waves. It was a beautiful sight.

Float on in peace John!

Just arriving back. Quick updates...

Yesterday, we went out from Lido and out a bit beyond Wedge/Corona.

It was dead glass. A good-sized pod of small dolphins changed course and followed.

We easily glided back.

A luncheon followed at the Balboa Bay Club.

I ended up surfing RJs one more time, with Tom C. and Larry J. (footies.) After a hearty grind, it was the end of a long day, and a beautiful day.

Today, RJs looked junky (sorry MW, missed the call... dead until LA!)

Ended up at Rincon and enjoyed a sun-basked session in playful, and well-worth the effort surf.

Just got through punching through a storm from Paso Robles... heading to bed.

I received my latest monthly Surfrider Foundation Newsletter. I noticed in the back that there was a mention of a donation to Surfrider in rememberance of John Adams III.

Is this our beloved John?

How cool that a contribution was made in his name.

The ocean appreaciates it. :)
