My condolences to his family and friends. This is a memory I have of Sproky, if I have the right person: In approximately 2003, Sproky started a surfing/KB’ing website and ‘borrowed’ some surf cam links. The cam link’s owners took him to court and he was fined. Sproky did the right thing and sold all of his gear to pay the fine. He posted on KSUSA that we was looking to borrow a wetsuit and board. I PM’d him to loan him a board, but by that time, someone had come through for him. (As I’m writing this, I have a serious respiratory infection…so I’m thinking of going to the doctor).

Very touching posts by all. Ed Q, I really enjoyed the poem. RIP Sproky.

Eric and I met for the first time at Rincon. He was surfing really well and we introduced ourselves as kneelo brothers will. He told me about the 2002 World Titles in Oz. Several months later we were hanging together on the Sunshine Coast. He was always one of my favorite guys to hang around the beach with. We did a few cool surf trips together. No one was easier to travel with.

While I learned about Sprocky's passing a few days ago I still can't get my mind to accept it. So recently I remember him as a mellow, young, fit, chick magnet. His passing just seems so wrong.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Eric, but from all the positive testimonials on this site, he must have been a warm person and a great guy, who will be missed by his kneelo brothers, family and friends.
Caveman, thanks for the video on Eric. A master kneelo. I love his style.
Share the love each chance you get because you never know when "the call" will come and you may never cross paths in this life with a friend again.
Deepest Aloha.

When we pulled into the parking lot at Rincon on Sunday morning it was dark and chilly with a heavy marine layer. The kneelo crew was starting to gather. As the time drew near for the celebration of the life of our friend Sprocky, the sky cleared and the sun shone down on glassy waves pealing around the point at Eric's favorite spot. It was a perfect day to say goodbye.

Rest in Peace Sprocky.

In 2007 we went up to Santa Cruz for the World Titles. EQ invited some of the grommets down to ML for a warm up session. I remember it was freezing - air temp in the 30's, water temp in the mid 50's with a stiff, cold offshore breeze. I was going to shoot photos, but Eric insisted that I go out and surf and he volunteered to stand on the cold beach and take photos. I handed over my crappy old 35mm film camera gear to Sprocky and went out for a surf where the water was much warmer than the air.

When we got out of the water Sprocky was so stoked because he thought he got a couple of good shots of Sam. This was one of those shots. Thanks Sprocky. I'll always remember that day.
