Fourth Gear Fun

Post by KenM »

So a couple weeks ago was my birthday (52 thanks). Well, after taking me out for a nice dinner my girlfriend gives me some nice gifts and the last one looks like an oversized yoga mat. I open it and am stunned to find a Fourth Gear Flyer surf mat, with my name on it, signed by Paul Gross. Whoa. Anyway, have had it out twice now and it's a blast. If you want something for small or gutless surf these things are the answer plus they're great in good surf too. Funnest thing so far was stealing two set waves in a row right out from under a lineup full of longboarders. Paul's web site is www.fourthgearflyer.com

Congratulations KenM.
1957 was a very good year. 2009 looks to be shaping up pretty well too. Ain't it great to be that old and have the same sort of stoke you had in your teens? Skansand and Cappy are right; you are one fortunate son and your girl deserves big props.
Here's a nice tune to cuddle her by.

Cappy, you don't know the half of it!
Thanks Kosmic, she is special, found the 4GF all by herself too.
Thanks for the mat link Matt. This thing is easier to ride and harder to paddle than I expected, could use a few tips.
MrK, reading my mind.
Thanks McKnee, it is amazing at 52 to be having as much fun surfing as when I was a kid.
Gotta say, best birthday present and biggest surprise ever.
And thanks to Paul Gross for making it happen so quick on his end.

Ken, that's a great story, you're a lucky guy. It's always awesome when they make the effort to truly understand. Happy Birthday brother. 8)

Cappy your killin' me, again. Glad your getting a 4GF, I thing they're a great thing for summer and for black ball spots. Oh man, I forgot all about the rashes from those old mats. How many times did I have a red sunburned back and a red rashy front. Ahhh memories.

Those things compare to a 4th Gear Flyer about the same as a Bic longboard compares to a Flashpoint.
