"Iv'e been surfing this spot since '72 and have seen the crowds increase every year. Funny though, seems the same guys get the best waves.Watch out for the orange kneeboarder, he get's all of his waves and half of yours too. "

I found this comment on wannasurf.com in the description of Calafia. Does anyone know who the orange kneeboarder is?

Yeah - if the Goveinator ever calls you some night telling you he's a) headed for Mex, b) taking the boat out or c) gotta BBQ/horseshoe/kegger at his house...take him up on it. You won't be disappointed.

Jack, you're right 8)
Hey Bob and BillL! I surfed Avalanche a couple of days ago and paddled up to a kneelo on a green stick who I've never seen before. I met Ross Chambers who is back in the water on a new fish after 15 years or so. Says he was part of the early Blacks crew years ago. He remembers both of you and asked me, "Hey, does Bob still ride an orange board?"

Ok, for starters, Rooster has been surfing with me since the mid 70's, he is pushing his history a bit there. Second, I have kept all my boards orange since that time precisely for the notoriety it gives me, many won't remember the name, but they alway recall a maniac on an orange kneeboard. Third, I'm not a hackoff-I get more waves there than most from local knowledge. Calafia is not an easy place to surf. That's all I have.

Well I guess I should clear a few things up, Bob was still in New Zealand when I started surfing Calafia, albiet mushrooms, 72'. He hates the place because " it tubes in the same spot all the time," HMMM so does pipe and v-land, not too many guys surf there for that reason. Usually after NOT hacking you off Bob will say " oh well if you can't hack your friends who can you hack. Another favorite is the time honored " sorry didn't see you back there."Maybe glasses he is pushing 60. Fact of the matter is, the guy IS a force to be dealt with at Calafia.

PS. Bob bring your own beer to my b-day party this weekend!

Calafia and Black's??

Orange kneeboards?

Maybe you think you're in TJ, inside a bull ring - El Toro - Ole

I've been surfing those places [Black's, Calafia] since late 2005, at least one time per month -

I've never seen no kneeboarders riding either place when the waves get bigger than 2 or 3 feet!

There are enough cripples in the lineup, especially at our home break of Poche - keep the 1/2 men away from us.

Check my math here, but........once a month for about 18 months = 18 times out in the water or 9 sessions at each spot, out of 520+/- total days?? I dont think Bob saw you either!! (Check me here Beeline, por favor)

NO WONDER, better get some more TOB.
