Pump House and Horse Shoes
Hi All, just a note to see if any of the boys from Pump House (north of Marine street) are still in the water. Geno is on line. Mark May lives in Santee, but the others??
Where are:
Mario Mancusi
Hello to you all and hope all are well and healthy. I still got a classic photo, of all of us at about age 19 in front of the wave on the pump house way back when.

Tom Wolfe is an iconic writer from the 60's and 70's. His book "The Pumphouse Gang" is an attempt to capture the changes in social behaviors during the mid to late 60's.
Some of his stuff is OK, but I was personally disappointed in "Gang". Very wordy and somewhat psychedelic, I couldn't make myself finish the thing. I think the biggest bummer was the fact that only the 1st chapter dealt with the Windansea/Pumphouse crew, and it was pretty weak (whaddaya expect from someone who doesn't surf?)
I thought the book would be COMPLETELY about the "Gang"...

Pump- House
The Wolfe Pump House was at Wind N Sea, near Big Rock (1 km to the south) and it was a few years before our time, my time was probably 1974 to 1983. Jeez now I look back, 33 years ago my god.

pumphouse gang
Hola hermanos....just to set the record straight....no, we are not that "pumphouse gang", although I knew then and now some of those guys. The pumphouse my brother Steve Booth is refering to is in reality a reef in La Jolla originally called Sterncorps, now known as Hospitals. We called it pumphouse because there used to be a pumping station there. We were and are the original crew there, before all the little houses were torn down for the yuppie scum,&developers&,spongeboarders on there crappy toys,(tom morey you suck!!!),and out of staters invading what used to be a jewel on the coast.Any questions Greetings to BoB, much love to Steve......geno out
