Gustav Swell South Texas

Post by quadfin »

We had a good solid swell from Hurricane Gustav. Saw at least 4 kneeboarders out which is a rarity these days. Texans Jon Steele, Morgan Faulkner, JB Englerth, and Rick Stamy were in for the swell.

Check out Gustav pictures from Wade Dunkin's site:

Sometimes a big price to pay for waves. Hope your families are safe.
Hurricane Ike looks like Florida is going to pay big time.

Luckily just got swell from Gustav. Hurricane Dolly stalled directly over us and we will be years recovering. Many roofs still have tarps and most of the major resorts are down which kills our main business...tourism. That said it is part of the price we pay for living on an island in the Gulf.

Flying that big 'ol blue, plastic flag. Hope you didn't take too big of a hit personally.

A Watsonville KBer who had moved to the Islands lost his 5'6" fish during the big hurricane that hit Kauai many years ago. After the storm he was walking around the neighborhood and found his KB stuck in the top of a coconut tree.
