A quick trip in Indon: photo intense and sometimes OT!

Post by tomway »

Just back from a short trip to an area I hadn’t seen before. Great to meet up with the Indo Kneeboarders again, albeit shortly! Thanks again to (Steve) docturbo for very detailed directions and crosses on the map. However, not being one to keep secrets, here they are for everyone to enjoy

Drive through the city

Go past the bakery…
Image

… the gym

… and the sports shop
Image

If you get lost look for a road sign. Wear protection in case of dangerous traffic
Image

Get back in the car. When the virgin antivirus passes (WTF :!: ) then follow it
Image

When you get to the rice fields, walk across them
Image

There’s no surf here but you could see up to three kinds of rare, flippered reef beast: greater stubbled, greater bearded, and greater bewildered. Harmless alone, but very dangerous in packs. Best left alone… back away slowly, turn around and leg it.

Don’t bother surfing the next beach as there are a lot of protective locals

Drive straight on for a few more hours to your final destination where you could find the worlds smallest right hand bazzas

Hope that’s clear :?: :D

Thanx Tomway for revealing the exact location of this secret spot. I can see this place is destined to become the Indonesian Kneelo Cove. Those protective locals at the next beach sure have some nice boards.

Just one question. Did you return home with buns to die for? If so, did you have to declare them at Customs?

Love it Tom! Any water health issues you have to deal with near population when surfing?

hehe, thanks guys. Kind of bored at home so I thought I'd make a little picture story

RMcKnee, I did have the good buns, but the f*ck#rs in customs stole them off me when I got back to east java. A painful experience

Names to faces: of the three flippered reef beasts, greater stubbled is stevea, greater bearded is grahame (another long time Indon expat kneelo), and greater bewildered is docturbo. I'm not sure why he's looking bewildered in the photo?

Hi mike
Yeah, you're right, most surfspots here are near population here, even when you're in the middle of nowhere. Rivermouths are definitely a worry health wise. It would be interesting to have a microscope and see what's going on in there but there are very few reports outside the bali area. Earplugs seem to be a good idea, but I usually don't and often get sore throats if I'm surfing areas like that.

After living here for a while you get very good at self medication to sort out little infections and stuff!

Tom's Trip

Post by Doc Turbo »

Heya Tom was a great trip, hope to have you back again for some real surfing. Grahame and I followed the antivirus truck this weekend and got some surfing, with only a couple in the water. I am lazy to do the post of the photos here, so I check the album for what you missed....

Nope, none of us in the water, we was busy surfing...

Halbs had a good time in Panaitan, but seems did not catch the swell we got ....
