Cook Islands?

Im going to the Cook Islands in Feb and am wondering if there is much of a wave there.
Im going to Roatonga .

down south but depends on the trade winds etc
there are sites that I looked up and gave reports and locations.....go to a surch engine and look around

thanks guys , I have seen that website. Thas pretty much all I could find as well.

I might leave the board at home and do some snorkleing with my beer goggles on instead.

Latest surfers journal has article on cook islands.

Also there is a book just releases called world stormrider guide edition 2

which has list of breaks tides winds ans stuff.

Went to the Cook Islands twice, the first time in the early 90's I stayed with Peter McClure. I had about 3 days on a stopover going to Nth America. Pete stayed for 2 weeks.
Best spot was a reef pass called avavrua - it was a long lagoon paddle and scturfed on high tide only. Its not sign posted so it will take some work to find, try some local tourist maps then follow your instinct.
Theres another better known spot called airports - guess where ?
It is super shallow and fast - good luck and beware.
Personally I like coming out of barrels into deep water - a bit of a wimp really.
Another Maroubra ripper Mark Garnett has been there more recently and so has Damien Coase. Both surfed some super shallow, flukey take off spots, out front of an all white resort on the windward side (maybe the Edgewater).
There was also a kiwi called Dave who rode a kneeboard when it got over 8 foot - he ripped and had steel gonads - he lived there for years and owned a beautiful house on the main lagoon, not sure where he is these days
Drink bottled water or the runs could wipe you out before the reefs have a chance

Farbz,
Spent alot of time there over the years. Take your board. Not long waves but some ridiculous barrels. When the swell is right it is as good as it gets. Fortune favours the bold mate. Winter time is the go, same as Tahiti but summer turns on some different spots on the North side. Prepare to lose some skin, but the pain is sweet.
