You're right Mike, light easterly trades are a great feature. Just got back from the country, it was beautifully groomed because of them. Surfed Backyards for 3 hours with a max of 7 guys out, wonderful fun waves. Beautiful day, fun waves, and a good vibe as the NSG 05 gathering gains momentum.

Got to the country about 3:30pm today. Paddled directly out to Yards. Trades were a little blustery but still the waves had moments of nicely groomed beauty. The lefts were better than the rights, unless you like the boneyard. 4-6 foot+ Hawaiian. Call it what you want I'm not changing the way I measure... Plenty (30?)guys out with the after work crowd. The good news is that we unshaven and unregistered half-breeds ruled the afternoon, turning heads all over. Here's who I saw in the water and talked to (in order of appearance): Simon Farrer, Barry Baker, Don Harris, David Shinbara, Peter from SA/UK, and Mike from Japan. There were others out there but the currents never caused us to intersect. I also saw lots of us on the land, sans flippers: Bud (of course), Marc Crawford, Karl Ward, Ivan from Puerto Rico, Bob Welch, Chris Buscemi, Wayne K, and many others I have not met but look forward to meeting. It looks like we're on kneeboard planet and its only the 9th of February.

Damn Just got over a bout with Bronchitis and Asthma so I hadn't been in the water for 2 weeks... Yesterday first day back and went straight to Bud's place... What a welcoming site.. 4-6 feet long clean lefts at Backyards...

Knew Jeff Fooj was gonna be there but before I could even get in the water I had to meet and talk stories with Simon (the man, myth, and legend)... Then had to talk old friend Welch and then met JapanMike and a few other Aussies and Cal guys... Damn gotta get in the water... Running down the beach I heard a familiar voice.. It was Dillion and Ivan shooting pictures... More talking, but gotta surge!! Paddled out to these perfect lefts and who do I see, Barry Baker.. Long haired and bearded... Then I met Don Harris and a few other guys.

Oh I felt like a grom again... Everyone is so stoked and it was only Feb 9th... Later Simon mentioned Gigs was to arrive any day and Baden next week..

Well the stoke is on and NSG'05 is happening...
Aloha.. I'm Out!!
