How about a gathering at the new wave machine in San Diego?

Post by Jack Beresford »

The Wavehouse in PB just opened a new wave machine called Bruticus Maximus - has anyone taken it on? It's a standing wave that looks like it gives a nice, endless left barrel.

How about a KSUSA gathering there? I'll ride a boogie on my knees if I have to - not a lot of overhead barrels around here in the summer. Maybe we can get a bunch of kneelos and rent the place out. Here is the Web site:

Great idea jack! :D

There's recent footage at Surfline.com

http://www.surfline.com/video/index.cfm

Scrol down the page and check the videos.
The "inside the flowrider" clip shows super freak NS local Jamie O'brian (briefly) riding a sponge on his knees while a mate stands next to him.
Both clips are great fun to watch.

There was just a post re: a 5'3" foam fish. Maybe that would be an option.
Great idea, Cap't Jack. A Gathering would definitely be a hot time and a media event.

I'm in. Just tell me how much $$ and when. We could use the Bud's foam kneeboard with the fins taken out.

Count me in but my wife won't let me go unless she gets to surf it, too. Never marry a stand-upper. lol

I rode the one in Durban SA. It's nothing like a real wave and it's basically 4 inches of water hauling ass over a concrete form so it hurts real bad when you go down. It's more like a moving halfpipe than an actual wave.Great fun tho.

I don't think riding it on your knees is an option unless you ride on a boogie board.

Hey Ler, what should the dress code be? "SPEEDOS & FOOTBALL HELMETS"... "CAPES and SNORKLES"?
I was out at Horseshoes a couple weeks ago and a bunch of spongers were raving about it. They call it "The Fake"
