Sunday's waves, tides, sunrise, sunset
Current wave predictions (NOAA) at the San Clemente Basin Buoy for Sunday, Feb. 13.cpodom wrote:Hey WillP,
... Does any one have tide and surf predictions for that weekend?...
4AM 2 swells
---------------
#1 1.6'/2.7'/4.0' - 13.5 sec - 198 degrees
#2 3.3'/5.3'/7.9' - 13.4 sec - 289 degrees
10AM 2 swells
----------------
#1 1.6'/2.7'/4.0' - 13.4 sec - 198 degrees
#2 3.0'/4.7'/7.1' - 13.3 sec - 289 degrees
4PM 2 swells
--------------
#1 1.6'/2.6'/3.9' - 13.3 sec - 198 degrees
#2 3.3'/5.2'/7.7' - 13.1 sec - 288 degrees
Directions are (obviously) the direction FROM.
First height is the deep water significant wave height (avg ht of the largest 1/3 of the waves)
2nd ht is the average breaker height FOR A BEACH FACING DIRECTLY INTO THE SWELL
3rd ht is the "wave of the day" breaker height--again for a beach facing directly into the swell.
To put these predicted heights into some sort of perspective, the "wave of the day" height for the largest swells that we've had in Jan were on the order of 20+ ft (avg hts = 13+ ft).
Tides (LA - Add 3 minutes and multiply hts by 0.99 to get Scripps Pier):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st High: 00:11 5.0'
1st Low: 03:43 1.1'
2nd High: 12:20 3.8'
2nd Low: 06:12 1.1'
Dawn: 05:44
Sunrise: 06:39
Sunset: 17:36
Dark: 18:31
Approx 1/4 moon, but rises at 9:33 AM and sets at 11:07PM.

Experience gained is in proportion to equipment ruined.
Chadsdad,
Go I5 South until Del Mar Heights Road. Get off and head West until you get to the bottom of the hill, then turn left onto Camino Del Mar. You'll go down the hill leading to TP. You can park alongside the road, or go left, then immediate right on Carmel Valley Road, where there's a parking lot.
Leave valuables at home, and definitely out of sight... break-ins happen.
Carmel Valley Road exit might also get you there... but I'm not sure how that works since they put in the new freeway connection. If you can, that exit is a little bit more direct. Just head West until you see the parking lot to your left.
Hope that helps...

I would suggest meeting kind of in the middle, near the bridge, on Coast Hwy. That way it's a short walk south or north to where ever it's best, or hopefully just straight out..
Jon, of course you can come. You will be our Most Welcomed Guest, especially after the welcoming you gave the kneelo crew in Santa Cruz last November!
