DMJ'S

Post by Greg Little »

Just to let people know, to get to DMJ's you can ONLY gain access though the main gates. NO south gates/ O'Side harbor.. As for DMJ's, it really only is good on a south swell. West/north west swell tend to be veryy walled. And Don the Carlsbad Brew Pub.? Would that be Pizza Port Carlsbad???? Greg...

Greg,

Thanks for the update...

I think we should do O'side Harbor. Let's save DMJ's for another time.

As for the Brew pub, the venue has been changed to Hennesy's (Pizza again??? Not on my watch  ).

Hennesy's is across the street from the Post Office on Roosevelt? 2 blocks North of C'bad Village Drive.

(Greg, am I right on my cross streets?)

Where the heck is that? I take it on base somewhere. Is it the Del Mar Beach?

DMJ's...

Del Mar Jetty is the north Jetty of the Oceanside Harbor on Camp Pendleton. Access is "usually" granted but I've been denied a number of times as well. Good waves when the sand bars are in shape.

Thanks for clarification. Went there in the fall for an Indian Guides campout on the beach. It was dredging!

In 20+ years of surfing Black's I've never snapped a board there. One morning while surfing real good DMJs w/ Jack I was paddling back out and took one on the back, the force of the lip went through my body and snapped my board while in my hands. I popped up still holding on to the nose half. I then spent the next 1/2 hour watching Jack get barrelled over and over again. At least I got a few pits before the calamity.

With all that in mind, maybe we should plan on a DMJs get to gether for this summer. Nothing big, just a quick amphib assult.

Don You are spot on with the cross streets. And Dave Jack said you BAILED your board on a little 3 footer. Could this be true? Greg...

Glad to know my memory hasn't gone completely! Having lived in C'bad for 5 years or so I should know Hennesy's like the back of my hand

As for bailing my board on a 3 footer... Don't quite know what this is about... haven't seen a 3 foot wave since the November comp. On the other hand I've had a 3 foot wave kick my ass before. Must be my spaghetti arms 8)

Do I know Dave Jack? Perhaps my memory is gone and I just don't know it.

Cya in a week.

Don, Greg is trying to call me out on some thing that happened a few years ago. See my post above. No, I did not bail, if I did I would have addmitted it. One thing Jack got right was that the waves were not that big maybe 6-10' faces.

See you then

I'll be there ... (remembering to set the alarm ...)

Looks like Don will be bringing some of his northern surf with him, maybe a bit of a NW swell picking up for Friday and Saturday. Now if Oceanside can just keep the wind at bay for a couple of hours ... 8)
