Thanks for findin' these great pics, Joe. Lots of great shots of the day's action--really showed the crowd factor out there, too!

Sitting up late last night doing a bit of work and my phone buzzed me. It was from Baden Smith, he leaves for Hawaii on Saturday and is super stoked, psyched and ready to go as hard as he can. He was also sending me a little tease about not being there..........dam, i am jealous. My new retail design store opens this week

Yes, the lack of photos is tough--we devour the ones we get and just want more on this event. Fortunately, Darcy is there and she'll take a ton of shots (and probably catch some of the biggest waves, too!). I'm heading over Friday morning and should join the crew on Saturday. I'm planning to shoot a lot (Scoop is lending me his water housing if we can hook up!) and post as often thru the week as possible to help satiate the masses. I figure the ones who forgo the epic surf session to provide images of stoke deserve the true "coconuts" award!

It's been raining all week in the SF Bay Area and will continue through the weekend. Sloppy, cruddy surf in Santa Cruz; great time to get outta here!

since Red (R) suggests hes a woose (spelling?) im putting him down for the coconuts to date - for being out in what seemed to be "beefed up" Sunset and scoring a photo toboot!!!

Shark Scare Closes North Shore Beaches

POSTED: 5:48 pm HST February 16, 2005

HONOLULU -- Officials closed North Shore beaches from Pipeline to Sunset Wednesday night after a surfer reported being bumped by an 8-foot tiger shark while surfing at Rocky Point.

A Department of Land and Natural Resources spokeswoman said the surfer's board was bitten, but the surfer was unharmed.

A shark task force member is investigating the case.

Lifeguards will re-evaluate the situation Thursday to decide when it's safe to re-open
.

shark attack, shark attack, get outta the water and don't look back.
plenty of swell, light winds forecast for the weekend and now crowd control. what more could you ask for. 8)

Holy Smokes

Post by DavidS »

Yesterday I got to Bud's around 2pm and everyone was out....
Ivan and Dillion just got back from Rocky's and was eating lunch so didn't want to surf.. I drove by Sunset but the crowds was horrendous so I went to Rocky's... 1 guy out with 2 others paddling out... Watch til 2:30 but the current looked swirly and the sets were closing out so I bailed and surfed Vland..

When I came in Ivan told me of the Shark Attack... On the news, last night, they interviewed the guy... He said it happened at 3pm and Holy Smokes  the guy was one of the 3 guys I saw out..
