San Diego Gathering - Sunday Feb 13th

Post by walt davidson »

Southern CA KSUSA Gathering this Sunday Feb 13th @ Torrey Pines -
1st beach south of Carmel Valley Rd.

From the north:
The 1st beach down the hill from Del Mar -past the bridge - there is FREE parking right along the Torrey Pines State Beach, we can meet right in the center and pick our spot for surfing. I don't think there is any time limit to the parking.

From the south:
Past UCSD, past the glider port, past Scripps Hospital, past all the Bio-tech
buildings, down the hill, and park right along the beach.

*there are no dogs allowed on the beach, since it is in the State Park

You can read MORE about this gathering in the Gatherings Forum under the
PSAGH heading.

hope to see you there, walt.

Gathering

Post by Ler »

Not a bad place for a kneelo gathering. Alot of spots I felt too crowded with others kneelos. Hard to get waves. Torrey is a good wide open beach and can handle a bunch of kneelo's. Should be a good one.

Ler,

It should be a good one, but we missed it by nine months.
Actually I was there and it ended up it Oceanside due to bad conditions.

Good that it pops up as it is time to plan the winter gatherings.

1. Blacks
2. Oceanside
3. PSAGH
4. Salt Creek
5. Etc.

GATHERING

Post by Steven Lewis »

Windansea- I think only if the group wants to fight-Pass

Ponto- That works short walk to the surf. :D

Blacks- Will work if I can get someone to pull me back up the trail in a wagon.

Salt Creek- The waves at the creek have been walled and sand bars are not right yet, Will have to keep you posted on the Creek. :?:

So Cal Winter Gatherings:

We need a consensus on when and where, by month and location.

1. December: traditionally the Blacks Gathering.

2. January: this month has held the Salt Creek Gathering before.

3. February: PSAGH, last year in Oceanside, Wisconsin Street. Good month to go further south.

4. March: traditional month for the Oceanside Harbor Gathering.

5. April

6. May:

I've only surfed Torrey Pines a couple of times, but I like the prospect of low crowd factor there. Or is it crowded on the weekends too?

Sounds like it's worth a shot. The times I've been there, I parked inside the park area, close to the path leading to the beach. That should be no problem in February, right?
