Tavurua Update

Post by stemple »

Well its late October, I will be getting in touch with travel folks about island availability. My count we had about 8 people interested in making the journey. I thik our best shot is Sept. or Feb/march/april. If anyone else is interested post it here in the forum also if spouse or significant other is interested that helps as well to fill spaces. If we can find a date that works expect to have put up deposit sometime in Dec.

Another possibility is a boat trip or a trip to Salani or similiar resort. The mentawii island trips seem to be pretty availible and the cost is pretty reasonable as well (about the same as Tavurua). Politics aside. A gathering in Bali could be fun as well.

I just want to surf somewhere without a wetsuit or massive crowds. A bonus is to be able to take the wife and have it be fun for her as well. The kids can terrorize or be spoiled by the grandparents for awhile

Post by DarcyM »

me myself and I all want to go to tavarua.

Anytime we can swing it is fine with me. Since all three of us will be going as a single lady, I'm hoping that won't be a problem accomodations wise. I'd be willing to bunk up if needed (not looking for a date, just want to save some cash!).

I contacted Tavurua last week. He is now contacting the other trip leaders to find out what the spots are. I told him it was likely that we would ahve about 10 -14 people with 7 to 8 as surfers. He will be getting back to me in mid November. They are also starting a nanny service with local gals as well now.

Celebrating our 10th anniversary is Venice, Italy and Paris next year so the budget has been shot for surf trips.

Hope you make a video and allow us to ftp it off your site.

I'd better not go. If I did, my wife also would have to go and she has been a 'footboarder' since the 1960's and has a tendency to take all the waves!

Hello all , I spoke with Ken Stapo today re: the world titles . He had a meeting with Murray Weir and a few of the guys involved . I will be getting an email soon regarding all that was discussed and from the short conversation I had with Ken it looks like it will be a huge experience.
I will put the details on the Sydney kneeboarders website asap . By the sounds of it the Tahitians and the other people involved are going to go all out for these titles . So lets try and get as many people as possible to show up.

Good News

Post by stemple »

Well talking to an actual person has been difficult but the following are potentail tavy dates given to me;

june 19-26
july 10-17
aug 28-sept 4
sept 4-11
nov 13 -20

I have to call the trip organizers and find out how many spots they have for each of these dates. Please help me find out when the best dates would be. In the mean time I will contact group leaders. I am assuming realistically we can fill 6 to 10 slots.

The july or nov dates work the best for me. The june date is a possibility as well.

If we want to have a whole KSUSA trip, January 2005 is possibility. In fact there may be an opportunity to have KSUSA be the trip leader every year for that week. Wouldn't that be cool!!!
