Bummed I can't make it

Post by Ed Dimick »

I was planning on being there with my 10 year old son Shayne, but a family commitment has come up. Sounds like you guys should get some fun surf. See you all next time.

Just learned my grom nephew may have a v-ball tourney. Will know for sure on Wed. We planned it as a family trip, and the wife says she's okay with going anyway...maybe get my kids interested (10 year old daughter and seven-year old son).

No luck getting my kids on anything but boogie boards in the knee high whitewater. Both might be coaxed into getting a wet with outside encouragement, peer pressure, etc. Only thing is, we only own shorties, and I don't know about the water down o-side way, but Oxnard is pretty cold right now.

Anybody with any extra kid full-suits they wouldn't mind loaning?

RT- when my son was younger he was only interested in his body board - he would use it as a skim board. H ewould run, throw the board down then jump on with his knees. He got to the point where he would slam into oncoming waves and just launch himself into the air. Had a greet time.

Maybe your kids will take to KBing that way. My son didn't - turned into a standup even though he works at Freeline Design Surf/Kneeboard Shop.

what part of the beach are we setting up on again?

Too fast - the resident photogs would love to set up under your canopy - rain or shine! Water is bad mojo for equipment!

Right now it's 60% chance of rain, probably significant overnight. Let's hope it holds off until Saturday night. Will try to be there early for y'all - may need something stronger than hot cocoa.

The latest weather report shows the rain holding off till late morning or early afternoon. The question is will the normal preceding south winds hold off.

I will be there early with my pair of nine year olds.

So far we have the following:

Martin is going to bring the coleman stove and hot cocoa. Fred is bring a canopy. It would be good for anyone else that has one to bring it has well. We need it with the rain. I will bring firewood. If anyone else has some firewood please bring it.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the wind stays down in the morning.

Tom,

Firewood has been covered, Toofast will be picking up a load of split wood from my place tomorrow morning.
