Matt
Hats off to Matt!
I had the pleasure of staying with Matt Gallagher, David Parkes,
Jamie Mc Hugh, Don Harris and Damion Coates up on the Sunshine Coast five years ago.
We had a few free surfs out in front of our house at the beachbreak. Everyone was shredding and maybe someday I'll write a story about the evening session we had but today I did want to comment on Matt in response to his win.
Matt was out front in some pretty small and windy yet peaky beach break. As I was getting ready to go out, I saw Matt connecting and bouncing off small sections like a ping pong ball! I was so impressed that he could generate both speed and power where there seemed to be none. He would rip a turn here, and off the top there and then milk these waves all the way to the beach. Some of the most impressive surfing ever!
I'm very happy for Matt. He is a great surfer and frankly I'm suprised that he hasn't received more accolades from the community.
Way to go Matt!

hey finger..finger wrote:UPDATES AND PHOTOS ON KSA NOW
its now kinda late on Monday night in OZ and I still can't find an update to the results on the KSA site
(last update Saturday..end of day 1)
If I knew more results (for sure), I would post them here..
hi ross..
let you know when we (Matt) talk some more..no mobile reception in Bendy and each sms and voicemail had to be focussed!
Simon Farrer said that the way Matt linked one vertical manoeuvre to the next was the reason that he (deserved) to win
Stoked again, MattyG

ps
No offense intended (at all) KSA site..I'll go there again now and delete this post if I've stuffed up cheers
When people discuss the hottest kneeboarders in the world 3 names constantly come up. Matt G, Gav Coleman and Simon Farrer. All are recognised for their vertical attack, full-on power turns and flowing style.
It's good to see Matt win again after a long drought.
Next time Matt don't sell the board that served you so well throughout the contest just before your age-group final and have to ride a back-up.
