It'll be great to meet up with the crew.
Paul Wuslich should be lurking about already.
Creedler arrives today.
East Side is the go.
4-8' Kahuku yesterday.
3 of us kneeboarders with a spot to ourselves , scoring 100 yard bowling lefts during the late session.
Conditions were perrrrrrrrfect.
Near gale force storm last night.
Surf is much bigger ( 20' - 30' + ) on the North Shore today with light SW winds.
Should be very good out East today at many locations.
There'll be everything from 20' tow in surf, to 2-3' perfect bowling play waves. Take your pick, and expect a looooong paddle out to all of them.
It'll look like Indo.
Appointments in Honolulu will keep me dry docked until the late evening session.

SCORE!
We surfed (and paddled) our arses off during the last few days.
Lots of spots to pick from.
Really strong kona winds (SW) but do-able.
Certainly OPENED the barrels up, and really boosted the power. It felt like the whole ocean was behind every wave.
Creedler, where were you yesterday morning?
Kahuku was still great (3-5') with much less intense swell and wind, until the wind turned NW around 9:30am as the front passed over.
NW winds persist and have torn it to bits now.
The break in action is welcome though.
Taking care of business and letting the body recover.
Should clean up again, real nice during the weekend.
Lot's of swell on the forecast with great conditions to match.
Nor Cal guys Paul Wuslich and Mike Sposeto are around.
Gavin Coleman arrives tomorrow.
Are there any others arriving this week?
BE THERE OR BE SQUARE !

So far there's been a real mix of swell and conditions.
A couple times conditons turned foul only to turn around and get perfect a couple hours later.
If you knew where and when, you scored.
Over the last few days there's been 3 swells running at once, making for very challenging sessions.
Hard to figure out which one will be a good one and what the wave will do once you get it.
The Monster Energy / Billabong Pipeline Pro event started and stopped a few times as conditions shifted from shifty scary gnarly with some gems to full on DEATH where nobody wanted to go out.
It'd been a long time since I saw Pipe breaking with nobody out.
Somes days only a few heats were run as it got so heavy.
Check this footage of one of those "gems" that came through.

And this for a broader view of what it was like in general.

Seems this season is late by 1 month.
We've been getting January weather and waves, IE big to huge and roughed up a lot of the time
.
Good news is, there's no end in sight for decent surf.
Fred and Barry,
When you guys get here it should be perfect and not too huge.
That makes for a nice introduction and warm up.
Speaking of "warm up" it's been chilly at night.
Temps dipping into the mid 50's F at times.
Don't forget some type of light wetsuit.
Keep an eye on this page for a reliable forecast.

Looking forward to surfing with the crew.
Aloha,
Bud

i know the gathering is over but, i met another kneelo yesterday at ehukai named sean who lives in california and will be here through saturday.
new swell filled in today and i wish that there would have been some other kneeboarders out. surfed alligator rock with really fun sets about 8-10 foot faces and only four people out for about an hour. then another hour with about a dozen people or so.
this place is an endurance test.
