Peru
Willy, I went to Peru this time of year, 1 year ago. The country has 1,500 miles of mostly dry and rugged Pacific-facing coastline. The surf in Peru is remarkably consistant, with wave heights averaging between three to six foot throughout the year, thanks to long-distance north swells and a steady feed of powerful south swells in the winter. Surfing in Peru is centered in the capital Lima, but crowded lineups and dirty water at the popular spots, you should search for breaks beyond the city limits. Peru's wave-rich northern tip faces northwest, the rest of the coast faces southwest. The best break is Cabo Blanco. Chicama is the arid left-breaking point known as the longest ocean wave in the world, but is very fickle. The country's south coast is hard to access, and rarely surfed, but it has a number of quality surf breaks found to nearly equal the north.

Thanks to Willy for the fun Gathering...
Kudos to Willy for putting this event together.
Jack, Scott MacDonald, Willy Kelly, Scott Wessling and I got some of the fading windswell on Saturday. Friday served up bigger surf but Wessling and I only got the hall pass for Saturday. We intended to check back after lunch for a second session but the gatekeeper was real drag and wouldn't let us in for a quick check / good-bye.
It's early in the season up here but there are tons of great setups for those who can handle the remoteness.
Looking forward to surfing more with you guys up here.
Cheers,
Don
