Craig haven't seen you in the water for a while. Glad you and your wife are going to make it. We can talk about Ireland. Hope to see you before that, but you know me. The weekend worker... Greg...

If you're talking about kidney stones here's a home remedy I just read on internet health forum/chat: 6 cans coke, let go flat and drink all within space of 2 hours. Couple hours later, you will pass the stones. Guess enough of the acid is supposed to come thru to partially disolve them.

You didn't hear this from me!

Jalama Gathering

Post by mike schmaeling »

Hi All,

Attention all campers, it's time to finalize your your plans. I can reserve you a spot if I have the following:

1. date & time of arrival
2. a check for 18.00 dollars, made out to Jalama Beach - county park

Please mail to:

Mike Schmaeling
137 Auriga
Lompoc CA, 93436

I'll send a PM to confirm that I recieved your reservation request. If you have any questions, please PM me. I'll try to post directions to the campground soon. Jon posted a picture of the section of the campground where we will be.

Jon has worked out a great BBQ plan (more on that later) & Barry is collecting names for the North vs South Surf-off. We'll be getting an update from him soon.

arrivals

Post by mike schmaeling »

Hi Everyone,

Just an update on the way things are shaping up.

Wednesday - it looks like a few early birds are arriving

Thursday - I've recieved checks for six sites

Friday - I've got checks for three sites

I've sent a PM to all of the people from whom I got a check. So if you sent me a check and haven't heard back from me, then we need to figure out what happened. If you are planning on camping out and haven't sent me a check, with vehicle lic. # and date & time of arrival, please do so soon. I'm hoping for more Thursday arrivals so that we will be sure to have enough sites to cover all of the later arrivals.

Well, the bouys are 11 feet @ 17 seconds right now, but the winds are also blasting. Thank God for kelp beds! Hope you all get some good waves,

Mike

Good Times at Jalama

Post by barry »

Greetings everyone
It is getting close to Jalama time. looking forward to seeing you all there.
I am going to be drawing the heats this weekend so if you dont see your name on the home page list then you need to send me a PM so I can put you in. Then Don will be able to post it on the home page and maybe that will stimulate some more postings on the forum. We are going to have a group meeting on friday evening (campsite # to be determined) to go over the format for saturday morning. I just saw Tom B and it looks like there will be some great handcrafted items being given out.Other than the Conception cup (team) there are atleast 6 other categories so be prepared to charge and go large. Lots of laughs and Good times will be had by all. we will be listing the categories when the trophy photos get posted so everyone will be able to start dreaming about those great prizes!!!!! also if you haven't noticed there is a forum on the BBQ so check that out and lets start cooking up the goods.

Jalama Gathering

Post by mike schmaeling »

Hi Everyone,

Here's the lastest update on the Jalama Gathering. As of tonight, I have a few earlybird arrivals (Tuesday and Wednesday). I will not be able to help these people get a site, but I feel certain that they will not have any problems. Thursday, I have 9 site requests and for Friday, I have 6 site requests. I just talked to Barry, and we also have a few carloads of people coming for the day on Saturday. I think he said we have 32 people signed up for Saturday"s "Grudge Match". I've been surfing at Jalama for over 30 years, and I can't recall ever seeing more than 3 other kneeriders there at one time.

Thursday and Friday nights, we plan on firing up the grill. Please help by bringing some fire wood with you. I plan on cooking up a few snack type things - like sausage, steak kabobs, garlic toast ect.. The grill will be available to all for more complete meals. The store sells ice, water, sodas, and yes, beer and wine. I'll be running back and forth to Lompoc all three days, so if you all need anything, let me know and I'll pick it up for you.

Well, I was surfing some of this last swell's leftovers Saturday morning, and busted one of my fins out (again). Bud said that the glassed in fins were stronger, but every time I bump the reef, my Blast requires intensive care. To those who frequent shallow reefs, what works best for you?

Post by mutiny »

mike I was wondering how the reserve site system works, I sent you a check and when we arrive on friday do we get a hold of you at the campsite? or will the attendant at the front have our liscence # and we get waved through? do we mention your name?

Jalama Gathering

Post by mike schmaeling »

Hi Everyone,

Jalama does not have a Reservation System. With the info and checks that you have sent to me, I'll be purchasing your site on the morning of your arrival.

So, how will you know which site I got for you? Well, if your from the South, I used your money to purchase a new board and made arrangements with the Railroad for you to sleep on the tracks. If your from the North, your personal guide/trainer will escort you to your private cabin (with Hot Tub) and take your dinner reservations.

Seriously, if the gatehouse is "manned", ask the ranger what site Mike Schmaeling/Kneerider Gathering is in. Go to that site, there will be a clipboard with all of the campsite assignments attached to the large, portable BBQ grill. If the Gatehouse is "unmanned", drive on in, bear to the right, but stay on the lower level. Look for the BBQ grill and the clipboard.

Again, we do not have "reserved sites" we are just working the County's policies to our benefit and the Head Ranger is doing all that he can to help us out. I don't want him to catch any flak for our Gathering.
