Hatteras Gathering Sept. 11-18

I have a beach house rented again this year for Sept. 11-18 in Buxton, four lots from the ocean (near 'Motels')(Bruce, thanks for the tip!). Officially sleeps six, but there a couple of couches and always the floor (groms get the floor). Runs less than $100 per day this time of the year, so the more the merrier. Should be smack in the middle of hurricane season, and the local kids will be in school.
Hope some of the FL kneelos can make it up this year- all invited, first come first served, send me a PM. nmac - maybe you can make it down and get a chance to try out some boards.

(Mike F, you're in. Jimi, if you can't make it down maybe we can meet up at your favorite ramp again.)

I'm there! Hopefully there will be some waves. I haven't been out since Kneelo Cove, Nova Scotia. 8)

Doug,
Put the week on the calendar on the home page. I surfed head-high waves the past 2 days on that beach while the lighthouse had way too many people. The bars are set up pretty good right now.

I love it. Guys have said, "No way you made that wave." and I tell them it was the board.

Jimi,
Sounds good, plan to stay over at least a few days. I'd like to pick your brain on shaping- just getting started again after a 30 year layoff.

Mike, Just sent you a PM;
All the models show Hurricane Igor tracking up the coast late next week, classic Cape Verde storm, staying offshore, probably see a swell by Thursday. Nothing but wind swell until then (last year wind swell was solid head high all week).

Still waiting on my nephews to let me know if/when they are coming, I suppose they'll wait for swell to commit.....

Igor is up to 150 mph in the eye and set to send DOH swell to the boys of Hatteras this week Fri-Sun, the last 3 days of their gathering. Limber up and somebody get a camera.

Fun waves last PM from a north windswell that blew up after a front passed through. The evening sessh saw chest+ on the sets, and some longish walls. The bars behind the rental cottage are in nice shape.

Capesurf has hurricane swell prediction down to a science, and his charts say the Igor swell should arrive Wed PM. Winds are not favorable until the next front, then it's a Frisco/Cove happening, winds NNE for a bit.

Late Sat. will probably be maxed out, hope to post some shots.

Mike, Look at Frisco, not Buxton. South facing beach, south swell, NE wind. 8)
