Mike, unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the beach. It'd be great to have her there, but not worth the ticket. She's only allowed on the bike path.

Frog, to get to RJ's... come down the 55, head North on PCH. You'll pass the Froghouse on your right. The small bridge you drive over is the Santa Ana River mouth. Go up to Magnolia Street, turn left into the State Park. Double back towards the bridge. We should be in the last bit of firepit near the river. Park near the last restroom building.

Parking is $15 for the day.

Mike I will take this one at face value. No dogs on beach. If Moly Dog is some thing else will I need a cup, a plate or, just a lighter.

If this is the same weekend as the US Open, won't traffic be nutty for us out-of-towners?

That was a serious question... 8)

In terms of traffic, if you're coming down the 55 or up Coast Highway, there shouldn't be any problem. Huntington pier is pretty well north from RJ's. The only problem is...the standard weekend people who come down to use the fire pits and the beach.
My suggestion... come early to find easy parking. The Magnolia gate opens at 6am.

you can do a drop off at the brookhurst entrance. bring a bike if possible and park in one of the tracts off brookhurst or bushard= save 15.00 for a nice steak. the walk from the drop off would be about 1-1/2 guard towers to the south. the ride would be <1 mile.
multi-activity weekend but plan to be there. thanks for getting it together Amanda.

Scott, awesome alternatives to parking in the state lot!
Now that I think about it, you could park on the Newport side, just South of the RJ's bridge (Froghouse side). There are free spots on the street, if you can find one, and small metered parking lots. Just a short walk North to the fire pits.
Glad to hear you're coming. It should be fun.
