If you're interested, I can chat to Mel who runs the Novo's here in Newcastle.
We have around 30 names on the 'books' these days. 1 x $pineapple annually, and $5 per monthly comp - keeps the X-mas show well lubricated...
Insurance is only a big issue if you look at Council permission for popular breaks - we have two spots, depending on conditions, well out of the way of the general population.

Now being in the newly resurrected KSA, I can say we will be looking at more/different venues for next year's Aussie Titles comps. We have some great backing from Surfing NSW, so get on to Surfing QLD (anyone care to be a Rep for your state for KSA???)
Have a yarn to Jim Brown from Vicco - he's now the Pres of KSA, and would gladly help I'm sure.

By the way, 3rd round is at Kiama - entries are now up on the Surfing NSW website http://www.surfingaustralia.com/nsw/event.php?id=865

Hope to see Qld back in business!

Thanks Tinso

And good on you for stepping up for a role with the KSA. One observation I'd make about sporting clubs is that much of the heavy lifting is done by parents with kids/teenagers involved in that sport. Kneeboarding has an older demographic which depending on your stage of life means devoting time would be at the expense of family obligations.

Not sure there's any easy answer but for me maintaining the kneeboard division in the annual Pa and Ma Bendall is about 'my limit' and I would welcome /support anyone who stepped up to represent Queensland at the KSA.

All the new Members are on the website, along with contact details.
It's not a lot of effort really, but could bring some great results.
I'm guessing a QLD Rep would be a really good move to get Surfing QLD interested.

I have my whole family along for the ride! Both my kids compete (daughter in Womens and son in Cadets), and my wife just likes an excuse to get away for a weekend ;)

Twenty daze ... um days sorry days days ... 20 days and you reprobates have come up with nada nothing zippo zero zilch ... not one iota of a skerrick of a morsel of anything closely resembling a motion bought forward to advance the noble cause of kneeboarding in the south east region. At least we can claim consistency as an inherent quality common to the vast majority of kneeolithic kneeanderthals.

Bloody AB'll b back soon ... and with that in mind this matter should be tabled for discussion post hast ... you see it wouldn't be fair to Alan if when on return he is lumbered with Club President ... Contest Director ... Treasurer and Major Sponsor ... if we didn't have something roughly drafted for him to dismiss as nonsensical and poorly thought out ... prior to resigning in disgust and disappearing back into the swamp.

Chop chop ... get with it lads.

Geez womble your harsh. Whats your panic ? We all know the surf this time of year is mostly crap, n who said anything about an organised comp & sposorship type thing, apart from Sonic that is. I'd be more interested in a more informal gathering of non competative souls, with none of the bullshit of insurances and council permits and tents and PA systems and Surfing Australia and KSA blah blah blah. Lets just get back to kneeboarding and kneeboarding in quality waves if & whenever possible. How about we call it FIGS as in " fuk it, go surfing " 8)

Whoops ... he's back already ... Hi AB.

Firstly I'd like to point out that your third word should have been "you're" not your ... as in you are ... and to think your trouble and strife is a teacher ... anyway moving right along ... how's it going Pres' ... enjoy the holiday did we ... fantastic ... now let's get down to tin tacks shall we.

Firstly I like to point out that I emphatically agree with you on the less structured structure ... the idea of forming a disorganized rabble is rather appealing ... and with that in mind the first order of business should be a coup ... not of the chicken variety ... military style ... a peaceful uprising of the masses against the hierarchy ... formation of a movement aka the KLA ... and the downfall of the President ... that's you by the way ... Riiiipppppp ... consider yourself stripped ... no no don't get excited ... not naked ... of the Presidency ... welcome back to the fold comrade ... time to form a republic.

The day has come and now is the meower ... its cat herding time in sin city ...

Move 'em on ... head' em up
Head 'em up ... move' em on
Move 'em on ... head' em up ... knee-ride

Cut 'em out ... ride 'em in
Ride 'em in ... cut 'em out
Call 'em out ... ride 'em in ... knee-ride

Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope, throw and brand 'em
Soon we'll be living high ... knee-ride

You're listening to radio KLA ... say "cripple stick" three times quickly ... then again lets not.

Now a word from our sponsors .....................................................

That was easy ... we have none ... but thats how we roll here on the Kneeboard Liberation Army Radio Network ... coming to you live from the outskirts of civilisation ... this is Old Crazy squawking the talkin n spinning the discs on the mindless gibberish hour ... yeowwwwwwwww.

We'll be crossing over live to our half man on the ground ... our intrepid swamp dwelling reporter AB ...

So Alan what the word on the street ... apart from No Through Road and Turn Left "Aloud" After Stomping ...

Over to ewe swampy ...

well thats a bit embarrassing....... i was singing it in my head
must be jet lag
todays word from the swamp is "sticky"
tomorrows could be " sludge "
but i'll get back to you on that when i extract myself from todays word.
But then you requested the "street" word so that would be " ashphalt "

ok.... fair waves this morning, they treated me kindly and with respect :D
obviously word was out [ not sticky ] that i had been dry for some weeks
and to be gentle  how am i doing :?: well jet lag again :?
Airplane was a movie with Peter Graves and Leslie Nielsen funny as feck

As for the ignoregural gathering of garden g nomes, how's the Sunny coast in 2 - 3 weekends time sometime, as everywhere will be flat with a howling northerly and blue bottles...... most probably and i'll be heading up there anyway and there are more motivated g nomes up that neck of the swamp.
Back to everyone else
:?: :?: :?: :?:

Thanks for that AB ... as usual you're a font of knowledge ... useless and irrelevant ... grab a cookie old son thats a rap.

I'm thinking Tuesday ... for no apparent reason ... hang on I'm thinking bacon sandwiches now ... ok ... Tuesdays back ... it wants to go surfing.

We'll have to settle for a two man army ... KLA light ... organically grown gluten free low fat revolution with added napalm ... pasteurised or just up to your neck.
