The west is the best

Post by matt cunningham »

Jim Morrison said that,

Ride the snake
to the ancient lake
the snake is long
20 miles long
uh-oh I'm starting to flashback

Thursday head high 20-40 mile an hour offshores, got out to Black's in the afternoon on Bill L's advice. Crystal blue Santa Ana barrels. All the shacks you wanted-This morning (friday) the swell hadn't arrived on schedule. Six-eight foot faces, long intervals with 150 of my closest friends.

Hellman Kneeboarder Steve Yamamoto was easy three feet back in the barrel when one of those close friends dropped in on him-oh well-
There were some good ones.
Be patient.
Hope to see you Jack

The Coyne family will be out in force.

Over the last couple of weekends Sam has learned some new respect for the ocean after being cleaned up by OH+ sets more then a few times. He keeps coming back for more and he's having fun, so its all good.

Harry goes for the small waves, so when the swell drops he'll be back out there.

Joe I am going to try to make it to the gathering.
If I make it I will have to leave by 9:30 10 so I can be to work by noon.
The schedule is not up yet but that is my usual friday. Maybe I will be blessed with the day off  wont know until sunday. If I have to leave early should I bring the board down to the beach for you to p/u or will you want to meet at the top early or when I leave?

Keep the swell coming, I want to see many kneelos in BIG BLACKS TUBES
I will be stoked to get to make it to blacks for this event!!! even if I miss out on the Wino's tubesteak

Gathering Update: we're on for Friday rain or shine! Don't let a little rain fool you - about half the time the wind blows S/SE - sideshore offshore at Blacks.

If it does rain, we'll be moving the post-gathering to Pizza Port - otherwise, we're still at Winos. If you're motivated enough, bring a side dish or munchies. Otherwise, just come hungry.

Unlike the past two Decembers, the sandbars are set up perfect at Blacks right now. I haven't checked any forecasts - but if we get any swell it should be good!

Gathering

Post by DarcyM »

Winds were clocked at 54 mph at 1:30 AM this morning. I heard it ... sounded like the proverbial freight train outside my bedroom window. Many downed and broken trees here in San Diego. Scary stuff.

This is a big storm but is passing thru quickly -- the seas looked big but makeable on the reports this morning. Hopefully it'll just get cleaner as we get closer to Friday.

Jack - any photog's on hand for this gathering? I'll volunteer to shoot digital, but I'd have to have a willing gear watcher on the beach if I choose to surf.

thx -

Jack and Dave:

I'll be there Friday including the BBQ. I should be riding down with 1 possibly 2 other local kneelos.

Everyone watch where they stash their board bags.......

Beeline is correct. The trail at the Glider port was severely damaged by the rains in November. It will be much worse after the recent rains. Use the access road.
