Scoop-
We have upgraded nicely from the Pizza Place of two years ago. This year contest headquarters will be the Ideal Restaurant, located just a few blocks from Steamers Lane. the Ideal has several great qualities:
- beachfront location
-great food
-hot waitresses and bar maids (also, hot waiters and bartenders for Darcy)

Also, we are meeting with the Ideal regarding sponsorship funds.

Here is the entertainment site from our daily paper, the Santa Cruz Sentinel (or "Senile").

It should give you an idea who, what, when & where things are going on. Check out the level of musical talent coming into this area.

The KB contest will be added shortly.

We wanna come play!

Post by Marcman »

Hi Guys,

Sorry for not being in contact for a while, im slowly getting my life back into gear.

I got back into the water yesterday for the first time in 7 months!
Surfed in the (British Kneelo Nationals) and the stoke has returned.
So my plan is to make it to Santa Cruz this year again.

I spoke to Karl Ward and hes said he will be there with me, to hold my hand (Charles Parker) style and to stop me from ending up on a street bench in the early hours of the morning :) (Santa's Little Helper)

Anyways so we need alittle help please.

We both going to be on tight budgets, so if anyone has any room for 2 traverling kneelo's please let me know.

Last year Ivan had a small room near who knows where, was that budget?

Our plans are to fly into San Fran, on Saturday the 12th and then return here to cold UK, Sunday the 20th.

Any info/help would be awesum.

Thanks

See you fellas soon.

Cheers
Marc C

Marc,

If you get a layover in Minneapolis, give me a shout. It'll be that time of the year around here, and I'm not talking about Jolly fat men in sleds.... I'm talking about stoked fat men in wetsuits having fun on Lake Superior!!! 1 - 100 chance you'll get surf though, which is kind of a bummer. Anyway, lots of warm floor space if you need a place to rack out along the way.

Hey

Thanks for the offer!
I think we are going to get a direct flight. Its about 12 hours or so from London to San Fran.
Might as well get the getting there over with asap.

But i will no doubt see you there?

Cheers

controversy?

Post by Jimputz »

So how much will the recent bullshit surrounding the "Fuller's" picture postcard going to effect the Steamer's contest? It's just too bad the site is being blasted by such negative energy. I'm really looking forward to visiting the Santa Cruz area, enjoying the local surf, hanging with all the guys and gals, and doing the tourist thing for a while.
So now What?............are we going to have to continuously watch our backs and sleep in our cars to prevent vandalism?
What's the general consensus????????

controvery?

Jim,
Personally I dont feel that you have anything to worry about.
If you choose to go then go, smile, be respectful of others, be respectful of the areas that you are Fortunate enough to go and enjoy.
Share your Love and Stoke of the Ocean with others that you encoumter
and you will most likely end up having an Awesome trip.
Ler,
As for your confusion????
that is most likely due to a lack of tube time

Lets all just move forward with a mutual respect for one another

Clearing the water at the Lane

Post by oscalivada »

Regardless of what the permit is for, it seems prudent to limit the contest area to Point ,Slot and Peak waves. No rides past the "Carp Lot" This would leave Middle Peak rights and Indicators open to the public. Not only would it be more manageable for "water patrol", but it would give the novices at Indicators and Peak rights an opportunity to see some inspirational kneeboarding up close.
