An incredible finish to the worlds 2007

Post by Jon Manss »

I just got back from The Contest Finals and am hear to tell you I have not seen a finer display of surfing in my life. Solid 6 foot surf was ripped to pieces by Baden Smith, Gavin Coleman, Mat Gallagher and Barry Baker. No one in the crowd can say for certain who won, so you'll have to wait for the results tonight along with the rest of us. The Lane put on a first class finish with High quality surf that allowed every rider to show their game and they all did their best. You will be hearing about this one for a long time. Can't wait for the results. What a stoker!!

No matter the outcome, this was a week of fun in the (freezing) sun with some of the nicest people on this Earth. As a non competitor, I totally enjoyed watching the high caliber of surfing. And when the waves dropped in size, I was doubly amazed by the quality of the surfing.

When a kneeboarder makes riding smaller waves look so easy you know that person has a ton of talent.

Well done to all competitors, spectators and to the KSUSA organizating committee.

Looking forawd to NZ hunting red stag and the best trout fishing in the world! anyone know where in NZ the worlds will be? Raglan sure would be nice. A Kiwi friend of mine from Whangerai (spellcheck please) told me not to forget my gumboots, as there are few women (props to Bintang) but 60 million sheep..."they don't cook mate, but they don't talk back either".!
