Bendelong contest

Post by red »

There's a contest in Bendelong, NSW, Australia this weekend (7,8th Feb).
Looks like you can leave the gun at home and pack the bush pig instead. Swell is forecast to be non-existant. See here:
http://buoy.ocens.net/wxnav.jsp?region=AS&program=Maps

Look forward to having a few beers with the blokes and learning about the secret wave magnet spots.

Hey Tony

Well we made it home safely. It was great to meet up with so many other kneelos.
It was a great weekend. Everyone performed really well in the trying conditions. The cadets did really well on Saturday afternoon competing the final in terrible conditions. Sunday morning saw a big improvement on the swell and some good surfing. John Clingan did a great job. It was awesome to see three world champs surfing as well.
There was a lot of lessons learnt on the weekend. And crikey competition surfing is so different to free surfing.
Hopefully we will be able to make it up to Coffs in May for the next one.

Cheers
Sophia

actually dont bother....here it is

(Report filed Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 09:51:42 AEST)
T-Bobs Bondi Report: Swells dropped (and there wasn't that much there in the first place!) after last nights southerly. 1 - 2ft (on set!) Not really much to do today except try to work out when you had a surf over 3ft. Another change due tomorrow so keep them crossed for for waves on thursday in some shape or form for south facers. Down south for the weekend, woke up sunday to a stunning 3ft swell on the beach we were staying on... only to find a national kneelo championship ruling the one peak that was working! how is that for luck. Checked everywhere else but no dice. Had to admire the kneeling little fellas, some good waves going down. sureal experience tho, being in the line up and being surrounded by the flippered ones

Cheers

another HUGE rap should go to Farbs and the Oatley crew (you know who you are) for providing a fantastic tent...PA and BBQ to raise well needed funds for the Sydney Club ... lugging all that gear up and down the beach.....It was indeed a real "Heartbreak Hill" on Sunday arvo

Cheers

I gotta agree Tony! :D

Farbz and the boyz did a great job, carrying all that stuff up and down the beach, providing us with music, food and drinks. They worked all day. Good on ya boyz.

Thanks everyone , the Oatley crew were Phil and Stu May , Ricko Clay and myself .
We managed to make a bit of money for the club which will go towards insurance or some other goverment leech like surfing tax.
To everyone who brought drinks and food ,
especially the ingeniously ripped off play on words ...."the Kneel Deal " which was basically a sausage on a stale bread roll with onion cheese and sauce.
"We salute you"
I will never look at sausages on a roll in the same way again.
