Gotta agree with you there Steeno, Phillip Island was pretty raw - hopefully better this year. That wave on the inside, off the bow of the wreck (going into the guts of the damn thing) looks interesting, McKnee  a thick wetsuit and a helmet would make it an extreme sport contender, just imagine if you got spat out the back of the damn thing with out a scratch 8)

Gems between the storms

Post by JohnS »

Fortunately,

The best days in January seem to happen on the days between the storms. Also, if anywhere in Santa Cruz is going to have rideable waves, it's the Lane 8)

Looks good out there right now:

Santa Cruz contest

Post by jimithesaint »

I'll be there in Jan -looking forward to meeting everbody

ScottyMac - Loved those pics,
I went to Nicaragua last year in May, supposed to be offshore everyday down there. It blew 25-30 plus onshore for over 2 weeks, it looked even worse than that the whole time we were there!!(but the water is warmer)

Big please

Post by JohnS »

I for one would like to see the contest in January go off in some big surf for a change. If the waves are pumping double overhead+ it would change the whole dynamics of the contest :D

JohnS-
I totally agree.
We are due to get slammed with some juice, and it would be really interesting.
Big Lane is no joke... trying to get 2 waves in an hour would be a challenge... doing it in 20 minuets would be intense.
Be interesting to see who's able to rise to the challenge.

Who needs school!?!

Tell them I will do your homework for you!! Or maybe you should just apply to do a semester abroad in Australia! Teachers here would understand for sure!! Mine did! 8)

Scott! That's exactly the mind set by which I teach my high school music classes. I was never one for sitting in a classroom, day in and day out.
Get me in the field!

Surfing is just one big marine biology/coastal morphology research project.
