Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial Contest 2012
Hi all
WindanSea Boardriders (Caloundra) are hosting the 38th annual Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial Contest over Easter (6th, 7th and 8th April 2012).
Information about the contest and entry forms can be found at the club's website at:
http://windanseaboardriders.com.au/?p=30
The kneeboard division normally accommodates 16 competitors but we can expand to 24 subject to the level of interest. There are cash prizes for 1st to 4th and Michael Watkins from Kneepro is generously donating a board for 1st place as well.
It's a fun event, good chance to showcase some good kneeboarding amongst the short board contingent and it will still be warm up here at Easter with good prospects for reasonable waves.
Any questions please PM me.
Best regards
Anthony

The competition is hotting up, I'm in
This is a lot of fun; run in true Sunshine Coast Style very laid back and easy going
Easter time is usually accompanied by good swells.
Good kneelos, good waves, good company...... perfect.

Just posted a few pics from yesterday`s heats in the Contests section.
More pics to come during the week. Apologies for leaving out a couple of names-help needed.
Finalists for today are Matt Gallagher, Kev Ross, Bushy Mitchell and Gary Slater.
Looks like the surf has dropped but winds are light and it`s a beautiful sunny day. Won`t be there but a few of the others will have their cameras out.
After looking through some of yesterdays pics i`m a little dirty on myself for not competing now. Pleanty of great waves during the morning and i thoroughly enjoyed the trip away, but came home without having a surf.

Ma & pa a done deal
We scored perfect sunshine coast waves & weather
38 years the comp has been running the 3rd oldest running comp in the world
Bushy Mitchell was there for the early comps at the start & made a blistering reappearance
On his native carbon fiber quad for a very impressive 3rd place
Kev made the long trek up from Victoria to test the warm water & his strapper kneeboards surfing well in the semis making it through to a very respectful 4th
In the final well done Kev
Matt Gallagher surfing a razor sharp knee pro tri fin showed outstanding style with blistering pace generating lots of reentries ,stylish cutbacks & making sections that looked impossible came in a very close 2nd place
With Garry slater showing for the second consecutive year some powerful controlled surfing always finding the best waves & making no mistakes but sadly his trusty drift did not survive the event unscathed after some big off the top turns the board has decided enough is enough & could not take it any more
& packed itself in half for retirement knowing that it's job was done
Gary has won the 38th ma & pa windansea comp the prize money & a beautiful new KNEEPRO kneeboard donated by michael Watkins of KNEEPRO designs
Well done to everyone that came along & many thanks to Anthony Defries the man that made it all happen for the Kneelo section
More photos to come
Cheers from the sunny coast

Thanks Scott
Windansea boardriders were really pleased with how the comp went. This year all heats of kneeboard division was surfed under an independent judging panel with a computer setup. I didn't catch the name of the guy that managed the computers but we did chat. He was wearing a shirt with a picture of Peter Crawford skateboarding!
Good swell, warm weather and favourable winds helped. Thanks very much to Michael Watkins for his sponsorship. Congratulations to Gary for defending his title. He was stocked to win a new NeePro Kneeboard as he snapped his trusty Drift in a free surf after the finals !
Thanks to Matt and Kevin who travelled up for the event, both surfed really well right through the comp. Great also to see Bushy Mitchell back in the mix and in the final.
Thanks to Feral Mick who is busy sorting through the myriad of photos he took on the Saturday - look forward to seeing those.
Caloundra local Wade Goodall was a popular winner of the Open Mens with performance that was remarkable because he is still on the mend after a compound fracture to his leg and a broken ankle from a surfing accident late last year. Naomi Stevic from Castaways Beach's won the womens final.
