scrimmage
Reminder: US Team (and friends) scrimmage this Saturday, 6 a.m. at Oceanside Harbor - South Jetty. Non-team guys are welcome - just let me know. Participation in the scrimmages will factor into team seeding. Unless you want Baden and Albert in your first heat in Tahiti please try to show!
Jason will be there with his new digital camcorder to capture the moment and make us all look like rock stars (even you Greg!).

Re: scrimmage
I may try to make it for the first part of the scrimmage. But I won't be surfing as I need to be at Swami's by 9AM for a paddle-out for a friend who passed away a little over a week ago.Jack Beresford wrote:Reminder: US Team (and friends) scrimmage this Saturday, 6 a.m. at Oceanside Harbor - South Jetty. Experience gained is in proportion to equipment ruined.

Tahiti
I'll be there; flying in Air New Zealand on 6/27, arrive VERY early 6/28.
Will be bringing my girlfriend, Carole, with me. Has anyone made any good contacts on accomodations? Am seeking more info on the staying-with-families option.

Update on Oceanside
Just to let you all know, there are TWO surfing events scheduled in Oceanside tomorrow morning.
One is the Pro Circuit team event (don't remember what it's called) at the O'side pier, starts at 9 am, shouldn't interfere with our deal unless some of the pro's are doing warm-ups at the jetty. Or if you want to check the pier afterward.
The second event is called something like "Grommieland". a contest event for kids, I take it. It's supposed to start at the South Jetty at 6:30 am. We may have to move our practice down the beach to stay out of their way.
Conditions were decent size when I looked at it yesterday and junky with the wind on the surface. The swell looks like it continues to pour thru but still a lot of bump on the surface, even in the morning. I didn't see it today or this afternoon, but I'm hoping maybe the wind has backed off a bit and conditions will be clean in the morning.
see you there!

PS to Andrew: You're more than welcome!

scrimmage
Ler - sorry you couldn't make it. We surfed wind-blown peaks south of the South Jetty with sets about shoulder to head-high (bummer about these south winds lately). We ran four heats so everyone got to surf twice and judge twice. Ugly waves but no crowd problems!
Thanks to EQ, Wino, Eric S and Joe for joining us and giving the US Team kneeboarders a good workout.
Next scrimmage is also at South Jetty on Saturday, June 5 at 6 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

heats
We did best 3 waves in 15 min (1-10 scale). This adds some pressure. Heats were surfed back-to-back with no break in between = more pressure.

Hi Matt, we should be done by 9 a.m. Maybe catch some breakfast after that. Sounds like there's a good swell on the way.
