This past week the south side of the south jetty has been pure churning mud. In general the whole area is benefiting from the sand coming out of the river mouth.
Looks like the future shows a slacking off in the rain, and maybe a large low pressure developing in the far north will send waves our way within a week? With nicely groomed sand bars we could be looking at some fun conditions!
Updated heat assignments have now been posted and are available for review. All participants should confirm they are included in the appropriate events.
Note: heat assignments and time are subject to change. Refer to official heat sheets posted at the pre-contest meeting Thursday evening, or at the contest site.
We'll contact the City of Oceanside and WSA and get their take on the situation. No doubt they're taking water readings and will be able to say definitively by mid-week. The good news is that Buccaneer is quite a ways south of the contest area. We've also got a week without any new rain/runoff.
I am down there almost everyday. The Buckaneer situation should not be an issue as it is 3 miles south and the prevailing current right now is coming from the North. Even after a significant rain, the earth911.org typically shows "no advisory" at the contest site location within 24hrs, because once again, the San Louis Rey watershed is South (albeit just South) and the prevailing current is coming from the North. Although, the City does do regular testing of its own and more than likely would go by those readings.
Good news on the weather front. Warming and clearing, with the warmest days expected on Saturday and Sunday. Highs in the upper 60's low 70's. Clear and no rain in sight! High pressure building for the inland areas, could even be a light off shore.
Yes, great news on the weather! It sounds like the offshore on Friday may even be a bit stronger than mild but we'll see. Hopefully the swell will start to show earlier, vs later on Saturday as well
