Tom Linn wrote:You guys are all talk and no action!! Why doesn't someone stop the bullshit and actually organize a contest with an alternate format. I'll be the first one to enter.

Talk is cheap!
Well said Tom... but you know nothing happens in the US unless the KSUSA Officers or RW does all the work.

I personally would love a contest like this. Guys like Albert, Sprocky, and myself have been collecting vintage boards for years. I would love the challenge of bringing them out and competing against guys who ride them every day.
It would be interesting to see the results.

While we're nattering on - the 4th (or is it 5th) Coopers Cup is on - 14th November. Come surf whatever you farkin like and let your lip bashes do the talking. No scoresheets, no wave counts, no prizes - just glory and good company.

I'm sure he does... that boy got skills. 8)

Truth is, I ride my vintage boards better now than I ever had before. (When they weren't vintage.:wink) Something about the challenge of learning to ride new designs makes the transition back not only easier, but you have a whole different mind set.
Good stuff.

Again, I concur! 8)

But don't try this at home... unless you have the right equipment. 8) 8)

You are absolutely right, Rock.

And if there was ever a "Vintage Contest" in the US, the final would still be Barry and Jack and Backer and Lerner.

Great surfers are just better than everyone else... regardless of equipment and the Rose Colored Glasses of Nostalgia.

Steeno, freak'n awesome!
I hope you know I wasn't knocking any particular type of board or style. I have an open mind.

EQ, I'm too young for rose colored glasses, but not for recognizing real turns. I don't get your previous posts about not being able to do a "real turn" on a board just because of when it was made.
