Chris and sea bass surfed flynn's this morning ,4' clean waves with gavin colman and only a couple of others. They came out again with me this afternoon for some choppy lumpy waves. Met neil luke, talked about boards, toured the island ,and are ready to do it again tomorrow. The weather is changing "again" and the swell is rising , so tomorrow should be another good day for surf. Albert ,Sam, Chayne, Simon and others are arriving this afternoon so we will all surf together in the morning. The boys are having a great time perfecting their aussie accents and adjusting to the "aussie" way .Only a couple of days till the comp starts and it is looking good for weather and waves , and with 108 entries it will be a top weekend.

Thanks for the update on Chris and SeaBass, Jim.

Is 108 entries typical for the contest? Or are you seeing the same rising tide of interest we are seeing in Cali?

here's the forecast for PI:

Fri: Bumpy 4-6ft surf at Woolamai. Light S/SW winds ahead of a fresh afternoon sea breeze.
Sat: Lumpy 4-6ft surf at Woolamai with a possible late increase. Light and variable winds ahead of a fresh afternoon sea breeze.
Sun: Fairly solid 5-6ft surf at Woolamai, possibly a little larger at first. Light and variable winds tending S/SE'ly in the morning ahead of a fresh sea breeze.

Because it's an island it's possible to go around to the other side if there is enough swell - to ride offshore reef breaks!

Just finished a surf with the boys. Surfed kitty miller bay with a dozen kneelos and no-one else . They got heaps of waves and had a lot of fun. Chris is enjoying his birthday. They are going to the penguin parade and nature park tonight, then up early again for more surf. What a life.

friday arvo and woolies was a mess
so after a couple of laps of the island
Red's Coopers crew went to Summerland ... the penguin parade ( centre crack )
and I think I spotted the groms
one was on a Blast
many kneeboards ... perhaps all were on kneeboards ... very good to see

they will meet lots of people and see many surf styles and techniques
and many, many kneeboard designs

hey its chris linn one of the groms over and phillip island and i just want to frist thank all of you fro sending me, sebass and sam her becasue it is an awesome experience.

today was the frist day of the contest. sam had a heat in the open today and he got third in the first round. me, sebass and sam all have heats tomorrow. me and sebass have heats in the juniors and cadets and sam has a heat in the juniors.

they ran the open all day today and i have to say that the surfing here is incredible. every round there are amazing surfers. the level of surfing here is really high. they got all the way up to the semis of the open and im not completely sure who all of the eight in the open are but here are a few- Simon Farrer, Albert Munoz, Shane Simpson and Baden Smith. the waves were pretty good today they were about 3-4 ft. in the morning was the best but then it dropped the whole rest of the day.

i again just want to thank everybody who took part in sending me and the other groms over here. ill see you all back at the oceanside comp. gooday mates
